Wired up an H3 using two relays and a diode as per the Audiovox website: https://documents.audiovox.com/700122.pdf

When trying to remote start, the dash lights look like I'm trying to crank in reverse. The headlights turn off just like cranking with the key while in R. The problem is the starter does not engage. Everything is normal when using the key. I measured the resistance about 30 times, but no go. Alarm is APS997A. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you meant resistor and not diode...  posted_image

Here is one possibility:

Check to see if the APS997A remote starters output you have connected to the H3s' WHITE/ Red ACC wire actually comes
on with Ignition and drops during start.  If you connected a normal IGN2 type output from the APS997A it won't crank
because it needs to see the ACC wire drop ( being as there is no starter wire ).
Try connecting the APS997A Accessory output to that H3 WHITE/ Red ACC wire.

Searching around, I did find an older APS997 Install guide in the Downloads section.  It appears that thru Option Programming, you can set the IGN2 output to drop during the duration of remote start Starter output.  Bank 3, 7th Feature.

I checked it out. The voltage is dropping on Wht/Red at crank. Same time the headlights turn off. Real head scratcher...

While it is pretty much the same, the wire colors are a little different, using the Audiovox Passlock2 bypass diagram recommended for the H3.  Here is the link :  https://documents.audiovox.com/700653.pdf

I believe the H3 is the same as the Colorado.   I use the iDatalink ADS DL with GM4 firmware for them and get +12v constant & ground directly from the battery.  Very easy to do, all the connections are very accessible.  Of course, ignition timing is critical and the Ultra Start units I use sequence it properly.

Here is a picture of where I grab the ignition and Passlock wires :

This is under the dash, just to the left of the steering column.
