remote start for 98 dodge durango

Anyone have any experience with a DEI/ReadyRemote Remote Start system?  I got one for my 98 Dodge Durango, but the manual shows connections for 9-pin, 3-pin, and 5-pin harnesses and the actual system only has 8-pin and 7-pin harnesses.

Let me know if anyone can help - I have the wiring diagrams, but nothing matches up to the box and harnesses.

What's the model number on the brain of the unit?

Its a ReadyRemote 24923.  Or at least, it's supposed to be.  I've checked all the wiring manuals for something comparable and can't find a schematic that looks like the one I have.

Yours is the older model, not the current one. The loops coming out of the brain are how you 'program' it. The newer ones are much better as they use the same brain as their other lines. You are looking for the manual that was printed for the '06 model not the 2010 model that is listed on ReadyRemote's site.

Thanks for all the help on this.  Just one more question about wiring the door locks.  According to the linked manual, I think my 98 Durango has 'Type A' (positive-triggered, relay-driven system) locks.  Can I just solder the wires coming out of the brain to the corresponding wires on my vehicle's printout?  The manual makes it look a lot more confusing than that.

Also,  what do you mean that the loops are how I 'program' it?

The older 24923 has built in lock relays so follow the install guide for Type A(+) locks on page 29.  You will connect directly to the vehicles lock wires.  The Violet and Violet/Black wires with 15 Amp fuse connects to any +12v constant source.

I hooked up the module today and everything seemed to be working just fine - power lock on and off and then I started it up as well.  But when I started it, the 'Air Bag' light and 'ABS' light came on and then when the 'ABS' light shut off, the Durango shut down.  Then it restarted itself, shut down again, restarted, and shut down. 

I hooked up the factory alarm bypass (even though I'm pretty sure there's no factory alarm on a 98) and ran the tach wire to the negative on the ignition coil, but still got the same result.

Any ideas?  I don't think the 98 has an immobilizer either, as it came with a black rubber key and I have made copies. 

Sounds like two problems.

The instrument panel error lights are usually ignition wiring.  Did you verify and power all the ignition wires? 
Ignition should be Dark Blue. 
ACC1 should be BLACK/ Orange. 
ACC2 ( also listed as IGN2 by some guides) is BLACK/ White.
The 24923 does have an IGN2 output.  It is fixed at IGN2 and cannot be changed to ACC2.  If the BLACK/ White wires tests
as ACC2, follow the install guide diagram ( page 18 ) with the two relays to create two ACC outputs.

The second problem with the vehicle only running 10 seconds sounds like you are still in Tachless ( Voltage ) mode.
The Tach should be BLACK/ Gray at the coil.  Verify this signal with a Digital Multi Meter.  See page 52 of the install
guide for Tach Programming.

If the vehicle will start and run with a plain key, you don't have the Sentry Immobilizer system.
