Hey guys,

I am working on my brothers 2002 ford explorer trying to get his remote start system working. I did not install the system myself and I am fairly new to alarms/remote start, but I have a pretty good grasp on wiring,

Basically when I push the button the remote starter acts as if it wants to start. You can hear the relay clicking, all of the dash light come on but it seems as if there is no signal to the starter. Any ideas on what to check? I can take pictures of anything if needed. The shop that installed it did a terrible job.....Its a mess. But I think the problem is isolated by getting this far in the ignition process.

To my understanding everything worked great until he did a dash swap and everything had to be unplugged. So it could be something as small as a harness is not plugged in. Not sure.

Help would be great.

Thanks,

Aaron

When you activate the remote start, what does the theft light on the top of the dash do? If its flashing there is an issue with the transponder bypass.

What do you mean by a dash swap? what all was removed/replaced? What bypass is installed? If its a data bypass, and it was unplugged for an extended time it may need to be reprogrammed

Also, does it start ok with the key?

I will try to answer to the best of my abilities but I am not familiar with alarms yet.

1. As you can see in the video I posted, the anti theft light comes on solid for a few seconds.
2. The dash swap entailed removing the entire dash, swapping covers with a good one that wasn't scratched, and then re installing it. So as long as all the harnesses are hooked up I shouldn't be do big of a problem I don't think.
3.I dont know what a bypass is, but Ill do some searching and get back to you. The being unplugged for an extended amount of time may be a possibility. It was about a 2-3 day process.

hope this helps!

Actually now that I think about it. The car sat for about a month before the dash swap with no battery and the alarm/ remote start unplugged. Could this be my problem?

A couple of possibilities come to mind.

Try performing Shutdown diagnostics on the Clifford to see if there is an error detected.  That will point you in the right direction.  There is a Install guide in the Downloads section for your unit that will help in case you don't have one.

Is the Clifford set up for Voltage or Tach Mode operation?  If it is Tach mode, try doing a Tach Learn.

What type of bypass was used?   Being as the anti-theft light comes on, this could be the issue.  Obtain an install guide for the bypass and verify all the connections.  If it is a Data type bypass, depending on the Make/Model, maybe it needs to be re-programmed.
