I'm about to install a Viper 5101 in my wife's Kia Sedona but it's been a few years since I've done one of these and it seems a few things have changed...
I remember there being 2 heavy gauge 12v wires but now according to the install manual there are instead 4 ignition wires? 2 fused and 2 not? If I have 2 ignition wires and one accessory would I hook the two fused ignition wires from the Viper to the ignition wires and the orange accessory to the accessory, purple to the starter and then only have the small red wire from the primary harness hooked to the 12v? That doesn't seem like there would be enough power to start that way.
Also I've always just left the a/c on during the summer so it kicks in when my car is started but my wife is accustomed to turning hers off and wants instead to be able to turn on her a/c after the car has started, preferably using the aux1 output so she doesn't have to press the function button first and overcomplicate things too much.
I know the aux1 is meant for trunk pop factory but will it work if hooked to the a/c switch wire with a diode? Obviously I would test the wire at the back of the switch before hooking anything up but are those normally low amperage and negative?

H3/2, H3/5 and H3/8 all go to +12v constant.
While you didn't mention which year Sedona, it looks like they all have one IGN, one Starter and two Acc's. That would require using the Flex Relay output to power the second ACC.
Setting up the Viper to actually turn on the A/C might be more than just using the AUX to turn on the ACC circuits and could require getting the wiring diagrams for the car. What if she also turns off the fan? It might be easier to re-train the wife to leave the A/C on...  ------------- Soldering is fun!

You know, now that I look at the install guide I see they say input for the fused wires so now I feel dumb. So that's cool, I do just wire them up like I usually did.
It's a 2003 Sedona and according to my writeup I have 2 ignition wires and 1 accessory so I should be good with the pink, pink/white, and orange respectively without the flex relay.
It's less of a training thing and more reactionary to an issue with her car. Her belt seems to squeal when the car is started with the a/c compressor still on but if she waits a bit before turning on the a/c then it doesn't make the sound. Fortunately the switch isn't a deal breaker as she doesn't mind walking out to turn on the a/c.

Only way to be sure is by testing with a Digital Multi Meter.
If either ACC1 or ACC2 controlled the Heat / A/C (and that circuit not being powered didn't cause any problems), you could use the AUX1 output to control a relay that interrupted that ACC output wire from the Viper. In the case of ACC1 the relay would be wired as follows: Relay Pin 86 and 87 to Viper H3/3 Relay Pin 30 to Sedona ACC1 Green at ignition switch Relay Pin 85 to Viper AUX1 output ** AUX1 set to Latched & R/S only. Menu 2, Item 8, Opt 2 & Menu 2, Item 9, Opt 4 Relay Pin 87A Not used - Insulate ------------- Soldering is fun!

It really doesn't matter if you have one or two Accessories or one or two ignitions, treat either ACC2 or IGN 2 as the second ignition.

Just had a word with Kreg about this. Test those leads, you should anyway but once you've found start and ignition 1 (that one shows 12v+ on ignition and stays live during cranking), test the other two, if they come out as 2 x ACC treat as such. If they come out as 1X ign. and 1 x ACC, test to see which is which and program your unit accordingly.
N.B. If it's ign. 2, and when you turn to crank (AKA start) position it dumps out, then it doesn't matter.
Just trying to clarify to be on the safe side. Was that OK Mr. M?
