Can I use a normal doorlock actuator to release the hatch on a 1988 honda crx?

Good question!   Whats the action and travel like on the release in the trunk?

Normally, trunk release solenoids kinda "snap" the cable to open the trunk. (you need a little play in the solenoid cable, not a taught cable).

I've used quality door lock actuators to open some trunks.  but you cant use them on every car.  Sometimes because of the mounting room, or... not enough OOMPH to pull that particular assembly.   Get in there and move it by hand, how does it work.

I do not think a door lock actuator will work for you.  Your best bet would be to go to a junk yard and get a trunk release solenoid out of a car.
