Hi guys, ive looked around your forum for many bits over the last year or so and now i need some additional help.

ive just brought a viper alarm, and for the only reason its two way. ive a 1953 chevy truck that ive rebuilt and it looks a little shabby ..but thats how i like it. its 12v and im a house electrician.

most of the bits of the alarm i can work out ,,,im not using alot..!!! but would like to use the cut out starter wireing.

there are three green ones. i put a multi meter on them but cant see really what they can do to help. i was hoping i could use them to cut the electric fuel pump or somthing?

the truck has a foot operated starter motor..so i cant issolate it at all. only the ignition wire.

if i could of i would have had it fitted here in the u.k but the age of the truck.. no one wanted to help. anyone got a manual? seems like the golden egg.

ive only the quick guide to help me and a bit of brains!

cheers Dan. Cambridge u.k

Surely there's a wire going from your starter to the motor?
Use of ignition or fuel pump wire is extremely unsafe and not recommended.
Any way from alarm, cut either starter or if you can't ignition, then:-
Green, GREEN / WHITE and GREEN/ black.
Ignore green,
connect GREEN / WHITE to to key or source side,
GREEN/ black to other side of cut wire.
I think we have more problems on this site with house electricians trying to work their way around low voltage, high current, relays* and diodes than people from any other walk of life!
* Green, GREEN / WHITE and GREEN/ black are simply the normally closed, common and normally open relay connections from the alarm's built in relay.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Hi Howie II,

the starter motor has a metal box attached to it, that has a connection bolt. this bolt is direct live from the battery. when i put my foot onto the starter, it mechanically pushed a switch inside the box thats sitting ontop of the starter motor. so no way of getting a break.

the ignition key switch sits live, and when "key on" powers to the coil / fuel pump.

i will do a mock bench test at the weekend. thank you for your help. i will im sure be back!...i a day or so.
