power door lock issues

Hey guys and gals...I have a 1999 ford contour and i've been having a nightmare of a time trying to get my power door locks to work properly.

Long story short : 3 years ago my locks started to slowly become inoperable. They worked off and on for a while then died completely.

Fast forward to now (I feel compelled to fix them for some reason now) and I have taken apart my driver and passenger door and checked the wiring boots and as far as me and my Fluke 75 could tell there is no broken wiring.

I've checked my fuses, and relays..replaced some just for doodies and giggles...and I still cannot get my power locks to work.

I caved in and bought a new 70$ relay from ford thinking it was my issue..and of course no go.

So now this is about where I stand.

(As a FYI I have pulled about 25+ lock switches from junkyard contours)

I seem to have one odd ball switch, which when it's plugged in will make my power locks lock, and then immediately unlock.

All the other switches, when they are plugged in if I jump 12v to the switch lock, or to the output of the power door lock relay will make the doors lock, and they hold.

So this randomness has me a little confused as I am no electrical guru, and can only find online that my 99 contour SHOULD be a Type A - positive driven system. And in that case the only switch which has 12v on more then one wire when plugged in is the switch that is unlike the other 14+ that do not have the 12v in the same wiring.

Any sort of help/insight/things to look for would be highly appreciated..im totally lost at this point and do not want to spend another 70$ on getting 2 new switches from ford.

Does the car have remote keyless entry?  Have you tried replacing the keyless entry module?  It is behind the glove box, up high in the passenger kick panel.

The car does have remote keyless entry but not from an OEM ford RKE module..at some point someone had a remote starter directed electronics kit installed professionally. At the current time I have it disconnected though because that also has had some issues, but that system works through the cars relay which I found out last week isnt a typical relay and has a logic board built into it among other things.

When the RKE was working somewhat, it would remote start my car, flash the lights when I hit arm/disarm, and make a beeping noise inside the car when I tried to lock and unlock but wouldnt make anything work.

Besides that like I said im having odd issues with the power door lock switches themselves that I have..I have one single switch that when plugged in I can hit lock, and the doors will all try to lock, and if I do not hit unlock they will lock and then unlock immediately. However if I tap the lock button then HOLD the unlock button my locks will freeze in place of however far into the locking sequence they get.
