I need to program a remote to a k-9 alarm unit. Remote says k-9 classic. Part number of remote is 146. i have located the valet switch. Valet switch will switch to valet. I have no idea of the sequence to get into the programming mode. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is a link to a K9-5 Classic car alarm manual form K-9 :

Programming Transmitters
When adding or deleting transmitter codes to operate the security system,
follow this process:
1) Turn "on" the ignition.
2) Within 5 seconds of turning "on" the ignition, press the Valet Switch 5 times. The
siren will chirp, confirming that for the next 10 seconds the system is ready to
learn a transmitter code. When the first transmitter code is learned all existing
stored codes will be erased. To enter a transmitter code, simply press and release
the transmitter button which is desired to arm and disarm the system.
3) Repeat this procedure for each transmitter desired to operate the security system.
The system will chirp the siren once to confirm that each transmitter code was
learned. Both of the other two transmitter button's functions will automatically
be learned when the arm / disarm button is learned. If a code is not received
within a 10 second period, the learning process will automatically terminate.
Although this security system is programmed at the factory for the large center
transmitter button to arm and disarm the system, any one of the transmitter's three
buttons may be programmed to arm and disarm the security system. Upon the
system learning the arm / disarm button, the other two buttons are automatically
assigned other functions, as follows:
Arm / Disarm Trunk Release 3rd Channel
Large Center Button Small Right Button Small Left Button
Small Right Button Large Center Button Small Left Button
Small Left Button Large Center Button Small Right Button

Soldering is fun!
Here is another procedure for the K-9 Classic. Looks about the same.
Before you begin, your system must be in a disarmed state and you must know where your valet switch is located. If you are unfamiliar with your valet switch, click here. If you know where your valet switch is, perform the following steps:
1) Turn the vehicle's ignition to the "on" position
2) Within 7 seconds of step 1, press the valet switch 5 times. The alarm should respond with a long siren chirp.
3) Press the large/ lock button on your remote (for Freedom 500, C-5, and K9 Mundial2, press 2nd or 3rd channel. For MARS-22, press Lock & Unlock at the same time). The alarm should respond with a short siren chirp.
4) Repeat step 3 for each additional remote that is to operate the system (up to 4 remotes).
Note: the system will automatically exit programming mode if it detects a 15 second period of no activity

Soldering is fun!
I've followed this same guide to program transmitters to the K-9 units, works everytime, however i noticed that the buttons to press for default configuration isn't always the large lock/unlock button, sometimes the red one works. Just a by the way.

Thanks guys, I did try pressing the valet switch 3 times. Audiovox units, I will let you know how it turns out tomorrow.
I have learned that being a salesman/manager requires me asking more questions than I have had to ask in the past. If something works for us we stick with it. I guess being familiar with your product line limits your needing to ask for help. Trying to help distressed customers with their equipment from shops that have closed down proves to be challenging sometimes.
Thanks to all that have helped me today and in the past.
