Installing a Viper 5901 with an Idatalink ADS-AL CA. Everything works on the alarm side but cannot get it to remote start. It tries as I can hear the relay clicking but it doesn't crank. WIres to ignition harness are correct.
Starter (+) output Violet on rs to starter (+) input on link
tach (AC) input Violet/white on rs to tach (AC)output on link
For the 12v on the link I went to the battery
ground on the link i grounded to body
gwr to rear defrost output on rs
Ignition (+) input on rs pink (+) ignition 1 input/output to Ignition (+) input on link (pink) and through diode to WHITE/ red ignition status (+) output
is something wrong there?

The ADS AL CA should be flashed with the CH5 firmware. Two flavors ADS or DBI.
Are you connecting it in the D2D mode or Standard ( W2W ) mode? Assuming W2W mode. Did you set Standard mode ( two bilnks ) prior to programming on the vehicle?
The only issue is GWR to rear defrost? That is OK if your are W2W and the Viper's Blue/White 2nd Status is still defaulted at 2nd Status.
I would follow the Type 3 wiring exactly as shown. ------------- Soldering is fun!

The ADS AL CA is flashed and working correctly. Getting the proper flashing led when trying to remote start.
Using w2w and setup correcly on the 2 blinks.
Is there anonther wire that would be better for GWR?
I followed type 3 as best I could. Anything above that you would change? Another wire on the rs for ground and 12v I could use?
The doors lock and unlock properly, parking lights work as they should. I checked for voltage on the purple wire when trying to remote start and got nothing.

If you start the Jeep manually and then activate the remote start to take over does it take over or shut down? If it takes over then it is either a bypass issue OR improper connection of the starter wire. Is your Jeep manual or automatic?? Remember if it is a manual then the clutch ALSO needs to be bypassed.

Started the Jeep manually the activated the remote start. I heard the relay click on, so I waited and it did nothing. I hit the brake and heard the relay click off. Tried powering up just the ignition with the key and activated the remote start and heard the relay click on and off three times and error out. Automatic trans.

Possible Viper issue? Did you program Viper for Automatic Trans? Did you program Viper for Tach Mode? Did you do a Tach Learn? Did you connect Viper Neutral Safety Switch & set to ON? Did you connect Viper Neutral Safety Switch wire to ground?
As for the Idatalink, the normal GWR connection is to the Vipers Blue (-) 200mA Status Output wire ( W2W mode ). I usually just connect the iDatalink power and ground to the Remote Starter wires that are going to the car for power and ground also.
After the iDatalink is flashed with its' firmware, you can do a Factory Reset if necessary to start over programming. Factory Reset, set the Standard Mode , lock it and then continue programming to the Jeep. ------------- Soldering is fun!

I'll have to wait until Friday to play with this some more. It is programmed for auto trans. I've tried both tach mode and virtual tach mode. Did do a tach learn but think I will try that again (I think it was in in virtual tach mode when I did it). Neutral Safety Switch set to on and connected. Grounded Neutral Safety wire.
Changed GWR to the status output last night and still just hear the relay in the rs but it doesn't try to start.
Reflashed the firmware and did a factory reset and reprogrammed. I hit the rs button and can see that the factory alarm disarms, doors lock and unlock fine.

Double check your connection from the iDatalink to the Jeeps MUX wire, Yellow to PURPLE / Brown. You didn't mention that and it's vital for starter control.
The last 2007 Wrangler I did was last fall, R/S only. Used the then current ADS AL CA w/CH5 module / firmware. The Jeep was a stripper with no power anything. Similar setup with the Ignition wire & diode. Programmed easily and started fine. The only issue with the iDatalinks' Yellow MUX output is if you are using an older ADS AL CA with hardware version of 1.23 or below. V1.24 and up are as per the wiring diagram.

Fixed it. Thanks for all the help! I started checking continuity and found a break , replaced the wire and it fired right up. Bad connection on the fuse holder in the starter power wire.Should have checked it before
