All,

Installing a Prestige 9100 in a 2006 Scion xb and am having issues that I hope some of you experts can help with. Currently, system will arm/disarm, but:

1) Door open doesn't trigger the alarm. Per the wiring diagram I got from this site, it's a negative door trigger. Therefore I connected the brown input lead to the RED / white wire at the top of the fuse box. I think I may need to use the purple instead of the brown. Which is right?

2) Door lock/unlock doesn't work. I wired the red lead to the blue/orange in the driver's kick and the green lead to the YELLOW /GREEN in the driver's kick. Did I misunderstand this part?

3) Grey/black lead shows to be the hood switch, but in the install guide, it shows connecting this to the keysense. Therefore, I connected it to the yellow in the ignition harness. This combined with #4 is (I think) preventing remote start from working.

4) Trunk ajar warning. Per the diagram, trunk pin is common to the door trigger, so I wired brown to RED / white (in issue #1). When attempting to start, I get a trunk ajar warning followed by "remote start shutdown" warning.

#1 and #4 seem related and are probably related to #3 as well. I may have the leads reversed for issue #2. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

Did you test any of these wires?

Good question and yes I did, however I wasn't 100% sure what to look for which makes me think I found my issues. If it weren't pouring and dark, I'd check right now.

Just to make sure my thinking is correct...let's say I meter the lock wire. If I turn the lock cylinder and see voltage, does that make it a positive trigger? What is meant by negative on the wiring sheet? Ground when activated? So, to check for positive inputs, verify voltage when triggered and to check for negative inputs, there should be continuity to ground when triggered?

1. Red white in the 9 pin plug at the top of the fuse box is correct and it should be connected to the brown wire.  Does it chirp 3 times if you arm it with the door open?  If not the dome delay could be set incorrectly.

2. lock is blue/white and should connect to the red wire. unlock is yellow/black and connects to the green wire. If you have a small RED / black for 2nd unlock connect this here also as the first pulse unlocks the drivers door only. These are negative pulses and meter from turning the key in the drivers door. They are in a 14 pin plug in the DKP.

3. Gray/black is hood pin. disconnect it from the keysense.

4. Yes, this is from issue 3.

It does not, but I haven't programmed the unit at all.

Awesome. I'll make those changes and post my results. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions when it comes to programming the unit also.

I used the same color wires but had to go to the passengers kick to get them. The drivers kick did not work and I believe there is a tech note somewhere that confirms this.

Turned out I had a bad connection for the door trigger and the door lock module was faulty. I'm sending the brain back for repair.

AND I'm back...

Connected the tach input to pin9 on the OBDII connector, but the unit fails to learn the tach. I metered that wire and it's 0 when the engine is not running and around 14VAC at idle. Is this correct? This thing is driving me NUTS!

The black wire sits all by itself in the corner of the plug(no other wires around it). It's in the shorter row...
