Hi, I have an Alpine 8120 car alarm that was installed in a 1985 Ferrari when it was new. The previous owner had disconnected the system at the battery, and couldn't remember the alarm code. I only have a keypad entry for the alarm. I have not been successful in locating any user manuals or installation manuals for the alarm system. I contacted Alpine and they were unable to assist me, since they did not have any information with regard to this model. Does anyone know of a way to reset or reprogram the alarm code using the keypad entry. I can provide additional keypad button information if this is useful.

I just registered so I could answer your question.
I have an Alpine 8120 in my 85 Jag Sovereign that came from Germany, and I have a 22 page owner's manual but no remote transmitter, so if anyone has an extra remote transmitter for sale please let me know.
Now to the question. According to the owner's manual any time the battery is disconnected for 30 seconds the Alpine 8120 (and also the Alpine 8110 which is the same unit without a remote) returns to factory settings and the default factory code is 00000.

You can set a new code, with the engine off and the system disarmed, by holding the code button down while you enter any 5 digit combination that doesn't start with 0.
In case you power your system up and it has an engine disable/defeat relay (probably under the bonnet) that keeps you from starting your Ferrari, the book shows the relay having a small lever that can be raised to defeat the defeat. The book says otherwise the system must be disarmed to start the engine.
I also have a wiring diagram I am about to scan for myself; let me know if you want a copy. When hooking yours back up, a yellow wire goes to the battery via a 3 amp (internal?) fuse and the red wire goes to the ignition switch, also via a 3 amp (internal?) fuse. It also shows two 15 amp in line fuses at the battery post for the siren and sensors. I've never tried to use the 8120 in my jag and have removed the siren, but if I can find a remote I'll give it a try. The key pad is mounted in the back of the glove compartment in my Jag, so the original owner must have used the remote primarily.
BTW, while searching for a remote, I saw an old eBay auction in which a new-in-the-box 8120 sold for $99. I am not sure why anyone would pay more for a 1985 security system for which remotes and parts are no longer made than for a new one with more features, but they did.
