I installed a DEI Avital 4113 on a 2007 ford F250 powerstroke and when I program it to wait to start mode it will start and run for 20 seconds then shut down. If I program it  with the wait to start function OFF then it works normally just without the wait to start delay.  Also I notice I cant get the program status led to light up. I swapped with another 4113 module and it does the same thing. I have a bit writer to program with. HELP!!!

did you run a tach wire and is it programmed?

put in voltage mode for 1.6 sec crank and wait to start for 20 sec. it has over crank protection on a diesel not a gas engine.

Find the tach wire, hardwire it there and program for tach.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Thanks everybody. I tried it in tach but I cant get the 4114 led to light up to verify tach learn. On either brand new unit! No matter what mode I set it in it fires right up and runs like a raped ape but shuts down in less than a minute.......as soon as I put it back in gas mode it works great! Every other function is working flawlessly! This is one of my favorite units to install, I've done a ton and never had this issue. CMK I will try your suggestion and let you know how it works. I really love this site and appriciate all everybodys help and knowlegeposted_image

Found the solution (I hope).  According to DEI, many diesels dont have a strong enough tach signal for DEI units to detect. DEI part #454T is a false signal generator that attaches to the vehicle alternator/generator outgoing hot wire and creates a tach signal for the remote to detect.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

you don't need tach on that truck. I have done a ton of them. it has over crank. turn the key while the truck is running and it won't grind. then you don't have to buy that part also. set or tactless at a 3 sec crank or whatever and don't worry about it.

The truck cranks and starts fine. The problem is if I have it in DIESEL mode it will crank and start great but about the time I start to pat myself on the back it shuts down like someone stepped on the brake. If I program it back to GAS mode it cranks and runs for the full 15 minutes that its programmed for. The problem only occurs in Diesel mode. I have tried Virtual tach, voltage sense, and tach sense. I hooked the tach sense wire to the GREEN / WHITE ford wire that tests with AC voltage and set the remote jumper to the sensitive tach setting but the remote start wont recognize the tach signal. I cant explain why it works in GAS mode and not DIESEL mode tho.........

turn off engine checking and see what happens

I see where you are going with this, if I let it crank til it starts it will automatically disengage the starter and as long as the remote doesnt try to sample voltage or tach it wont have a reason to shut down........makes sense! I also wonder if Im getting some sort of voltage spike in the brake wire because it shuts down instantly like the brake is stepped on........I love this stuff!!!

so set for voltage crank @ 4.0 sec crank
turn off engine checking
set for 20 dec wait to start delay.

Have you ever heard of voltage spikes in the brake wire? I heard rumors of this causing problems with trailer brake wiring on ford super duty trucks.......I may scope that wire when the customer brings back the truck.......

Fixed! One of the heavy guage 12v input wires had a loose connection at the fuse socket. It works great programmed per cmk instructions! Thanks so much!
