Hi,Every one.

Thanks this forum and I have installed viper 5301 in my 02 Caravan sports, it can starts the vechicle. But I still have some quesiton.

1, The hood in pin,

I have conncected H2 PIN 15 (Grey) to PURPLE / lt blue,(pin 30 at BCM connect 3). But it doesn't work, no matter the hood close or hood open, I still can start the vechle. I have check the pruple/lt blue wire, it alway output about 6V even if I close or open the hood.

2, right power sliding door.

My van only has right power sliding door,so I just use a relay to connect this wire to ground via 2.44k resistor( the diagram in my hand requires 2.7k). I also control the relay via AUX 1 output, But when I try to open the sliding door, I can heard the relay click, right sliding door, doesn't act. I can operate it by my OEM remote keypad. Is the resistor right?

3,tachwire

It works fine when I use virtual Tach. Lots of people say I should conncect to tachwire when starting in cold weather. The question is where is the good position to connect the tachwire and where is the good place pass by the firewall?

4, Display panel

Actually, I don't know it is good or not. When I remote start the van, the display pannel also start, like I turn on the headlamp in night, when I put the key and change to normal operation after press brake, the display panel will shut off like normal. Is that right?

5, Lock unlock.

When I use 5301 lock and unlock the VAN, it lock and unclock it correctly, But without a horn and light flash. like a silent mode. Some thing wrong?

6, range of 5301.

One reason I select viper is its range, But I have test it , its maximum range is only 300-400 meter. Is the batter low? That battery comes with device. I bought them from Ebay.

thanks

1. Hood pin wire should go out to the hood pin you install in the engine compartment. One should have been it the remote starter kit.

2. Not sure. Never done one.

3.  The TACH wire on the 2.4L is BLUE/GREEN or BLUE/TAN. On the 3.3L and 3.8L use the BLUE/GREEN, BLUE/TAN or BLUE/ORANGE.  AC) https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp

4.  Display Panel?  Are you talking about the dashboard?  If so, normal.

5.  What wire from the viper for horn do you have connected to what on the vehicle?  Lights. Did you install the mini fuse under the door of the brain? Take note as to the polarity position of the slots.       NOTE #3: To turn on the PARKING LIGHTS requires a (-)Negative thru a 2000 Ohm resistor and
an extra relay part #775 to connect, See DIAGRAM    https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp

6.  Range varies by many conditions. Weather, building material, position of the antenna, ect.  I can get about 1200 feet out of mine in a heavy wooded area. About two blocks and around a curve from my house.  If I go another few feet, no connection.

Thanks for your reply.

1,I reference the following wirediagram for hood pin input.

Is those possible wrong?

2,thanks.

3, Is there a good place to pass through the firewall?

4,thanks

5,The horn would works when I use Car Find function. So wireconnection should be right. I never see parking light flash. I pretty sure connect the fuse to negtive polar and put a 2k resistor and a relay. Any idea?

6,thanks.

1. Where are you? I never did see very many Caravans here in the U.S. with a factory hood pin, although I see the location underhood where it would go.

If the factory hood switch has two wires, test both wires. One should be ground all the time, the other should be a ground only when the hood is open.

Sometimes the correct wire will have a little bit of residual ground all the time from the car's BCM, and you might then have to cut the factory wire in half, wire a diode inline, and connect the Viper's hood pin wire on the "switch" side of the diode.

2. Time for some troubleshooting.

A. What happens if you touch the resistor to chassis ground? B. Does your relay output a ground when you press the AUX button on the rmeote? C. Did you test the sliding-door wire in the Caravan? There are many wires of the same color at the BCM, and only one is right. Or, you can go to the roof console and find it there. I think it's just one screw inside the sunglass holder and then it pops down.

3. Virtual tach should work just fine. I've done literally hundreds of these vans with just basic voltage sensing, and no comebacks.

If you do want to hook up tach, there are a number of rubber grommets in the firewall where it's easy to go through.

I think there's an unused small grommet up above the gas pedal.....maybe not. It's been a long time!

Also, try following the hood-release cable.

The ideal thing would be an old car antenna with the tip cut off. It's great to poke through the grommet, then tape your wire to it and pull it through.

If you don't have an antenna, a wire coat hanger works, but it's a little bendy.

4. You mean the green background lighting that lets you see the speedometer and all that? Yeah, that sounds right. Where did you hook up parking lights? At the switch through a resistor?

5. Horn: You can go into programming and set the horn to honk with lock and unlock. There's another feature to adjust the timing of the pulse, but even the minimum setting in the menu is already going to be louder than the factory remote does.

Parking lights: Just like the sliding door...... test the white output coming from the unit. Does it make a ground when you hit the Lock/Unlock buttons? Did you test the parking light wire at the headlight switch? What happens if you jump the resistor to chassis ground?

[1,I am in Calgary, Alberta,Canada. I will do that following your idea.

2,Sorry, I didn't do that A, and B. But I can heard a click of one relay when I enable AUX output. I don't know how to do C. I have checked the wire color and Pin number of BCM. Both are correct. I will follow your idea and start check from roof console. But how do I konw the resistor needed?

3,Virtual Tach should works in cold weather? I live in Calgary, where can down to -40 degree in winter. I just heard something about Virtual Tach not working in winter. But I don't know why. I think the alterator output voltage should not change even if in winter.

4, I cut off the wire at light switch and put a relay and resitor.

5,horn should works good. I can hear it, but I don't know how to set the horn when lock and unlock. I didn't find the programming memu.

Thanks again.

For your sliding door...see note: Left power sliding door is negative trigger thru a 1.5K ohm resistor. Right power sliding door is negative trigger thru a 2.7K ohm resistor. MUST use relays. The BCM (Body Control Module) is in the driver kick panel near the parking brake. It has 5 plugs in it, one 6 pin plug and four 34 pin plugs.MUST use relay

For your hood switch, I would install a physical switch as per manual.
