hello everyone,

just installed a clifford avanteguard 4 which works great!

just wanted to add a bi-colour led in each door pin, so when the car's unlocked it shows green, and when its locked it shows red. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of how to do this??

cheers

The only way I know of to do this is to install a magnetic switch inside the door.  Let me know if this is something you are willing to attempt and I can go into more detail.

Or a twin coil Omron latching relay from RS in the UK:-latch.bmp
The AG 4 was the best alarm-R/S ever made, quality wise.

yeh still want to do this. my mate had it done to one of his cars years ago. I think he said it uses one normal 30 or 40amp relay plus two smaller relays, with a five wire door actuator. Any help would be great!

What help? Don't use a regular relay, your battery will die overnight.
What car by the way and did it have factory central locking?

Just out of interest, surely if the car is armed the doors will be locked anyway? So this is all completely unnecessary.

Is the alarm controlling the locking or is their a separate, either blue or grey central locking relay, in other words has the installer wired the alarm as neg lock outputs or 5 wire?

I wired the alarm up, its controlled by the clifford. I think it sits at neg rest.

Did you use the 6 Clifford wires or 2/3?

All 6, two go to the door motors, two earth, and two postive

OK, here's your modified diagram:-
431_latch.bmp
That relay is also available from Maplin Electronics, part number
N38AW at £4.09.
Of coursed it's much easier to take the green armed out wire going to the digital tilt sensor then run 12v+ into each door and the LED returns back to that green, 2 12volt flashing LEDs and no extra parts.

Already using that green - armed to roll the windows up via DEI 530t. The bi colour led has three legs one earth, one postive make it go green, one postive to make it go red. Unless theirs a bi colour two leg LED??

No, three legs, what's the problem? My diagram shows that. Also why a 530? The AG4 has built in window closer wiring.

Used the 530 to control my leccy windows, and also give me the one touch feature. Also allows me to vent the windows in valet mode as well. Which is what i wanted. Sorry your right, just looked at your diagram properly

Do i need two of the relays, one for each door? Or can i run the two leds on one relay?

The second, only 1 relay needed, enough power to run all the LEDs.
Join adjacent to the alarm then run out from there into the doors.
NOTE! On a Mk.II Golf run the earths (aka grounds or 0v wire) back into the car. Door earths are insufficient, in fact MkI and MkII Golfs were plagued with bad earths.

Test all the parts separately, you've wired up something wrong, this is about as simple as it gets.

tested the pins on each leg of the relay, the two from the door motors sit at postive, the two grounds are negative, the two pins suppose to be postive are postive. so the top rail is postve and the bottom rail is negative (as per diagram). But the ones going to the led is neither negative or postive when pulsed.

The two from the door motor wires should only go pos for 0.8 seconds on arming and disarming the alarm. Otherwise they sit on ground (earth) at rest.
Any way the whole concept is daft, the alarm's LED will tell you when the doors are locked.
