Installed a remote start on a 2000 GMC Jimmy awhile ago and sometimes the horn will honk when the doors are unlocked with the remote.
Looked at the wiring for this vehicle and it doesn't show a alarm disarm wire for this vehicle, but it does for the s-10 blazer (basicly the same thing). Has anyone had this problem or have some advice to give about this?
Thanks, John
Check the BCM for the disarm wire. Light green i think it is? Pretty sure the BCM is to the right of the gas pedal under the center stack area. I hate those dashes! So many 7mm screws! lol
Use the - unlock wire from the keyless unit isolated from any other circuit it is attached to with relays or diodes. Don't want your door lock switch disarming the factory alarm or that would defeat the purpose.

To master and control electricity is perfection. *evil laugh*
Make sure your passenger is not locking the door with the switch located on the passenger door. This will arm the factory alarm. If you unlock it with the aftermarket alarm, this will set off the factory alarm.
I'll have to get the car back and go over how it's installed. I don't think I hooked up the disarm wire but this wouldn't explain why it only sets off the alarm periodacally when unlocking the doors.
So I should have used diodes on the unlock / lock wires. I'm sure I didn't do that. I'll post back what I find.
Thanks for the help

I had asked if they were using the factory keyfob to lock the doors and they said only used the starter remote, unsure about the manual locks I'll ask.
Thanks
