The microswitch on my Compustar 2-way remote went bad, and need to replace the remote now. However, my dealer wants $100 for a new remote, which is a lot of money to replace a remote which shouldn't have suffered from this kind of failure to begin with. Does anyone else have any suggestions as to where I might get it cheaper? It looks like there are some on eBay, but that's probably a bad idea.
I was hoping to find an authorized dealer here who might be willing to sell it to me at a lower price.
Remote Model # is 044jr561fm907 (also known as the 2WFMR I believe, and isn't the newer SST version).

What makes you so sure of that?
If I wanted a better deal, I would try ebay and take my chances. If you want one that is new and comes with a guarantee, your gonna have to pony up and pay what it costs.
Check out these remotes and their pricing. https://www.viper.com/ShopViperProducts/SearchByCategory.aspx?CategoryCode=108
I have had three of them that crapped out over the past eight years, and they cost alot more than that compustar.

On a side not if you go back to the dealer that sold you the remote kit, they can send it back to compustar, and possibly have it refurbished, depending on how old your remote is. I think that would be about half the cost.

How did yours fail? Microswitch failure as well? I was going to get a Viper system next time, since the dealer is a lot closer, but the cost of these remotes is just crazy, considering they don't seem to last.
The refurb approach is a good idea, I will ask them about that one.

The first one would no longer communicate with the starter,it looked like it worked fine, but would not transmit. The other two the screens failed. The compustars I have been using recently work great, no issues. 2w900fmr pro that worked great, and more recently a 2w901s that is awesome. Both of those cost well over $100.
