Hey Guys,

I am new to installing car alarms and remote starts. I need some help figuring out exactly what I do and don't need to get this setup to work. I already purchased a Viper 3202 2-way responder LE security system and I have ordered the optional upgrade remote start module (Avital 4003L remote start module).  I needed to know If I need some kind of bypass module for the 98 STS or will I be able to make this work with what I have. It does have keyless entry from the factory and I believe the keys are chipped.   I am also putting the same setup into a 2002 Chevy Tahoe that already has factory keyless entry and I would need the same info for that vehicle aswell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank You!

Think I would go with a full featured bypass module like the ADS DLSL GM1 ( https://www.idatalink.com/support/helpdesk ) .
It will handle the transponder immobilizer and take care of the locks, trunk, alarm, door triggers and supply a Tach signal.
For a little extra, it will save a lot of time.  Another choice would be the Fortin INT-SL+ ( https://ifar.ca/en/products/flash/int-sl%2B/files.html ).

Either module will do the bypass function only for the Tahoe.

Thanks for the info!  I jumped the gun and bought 2 iDatalink ADS-TBSL PL Can Bus Bypass Module.   What was the purpose of the other module you selected for all those other features like door locks and trunk? The Viper alarm I purchased is supposed to handle that right?  Is there any thing I am missing?

The ADS TBSL PL is a good choice for the Tahoe.  There aren't many choices that do more for
that vehicle.  Most of the necessary wires for the Tahoe can be easily found in the BCM.

For the STS, the ADS DLSL GM1 makes more sense.  Go to the iDatalink WEB site and download
the install guide.  While you will have to make the W2W connections shown between the module
and the remote starter / alarm ( Type 2 Install ), you can do that on the bench before
installation into the STS.  That way you won't have to locate, test and run wires to those
signals already handled by the ADS module ( Lock, Unlock, Arm, Disarm, Trunk, Door Status
and Tach ).  The ADS DLSL GM1 handles all those signals with just the PURPLE / White wire
connection to the OBD2 diagnostic plug.  You will still have to directly connect to the ignition
wires and things like parking lights, horn, brake, etc ( but you won't have to send any wires
into the drivers door ).
