Hello all!

I'm a car and home audio guy, so I have basic skills - I can tear apart and reconstruct an interior, use a multimeter to some limited degree, build/fabricate just about anything, solder, etc.

My wife has. 1995 Infinity J30t. I would like for her to have remote starting capabilities; it's an automatic. Also, if there is a system that could replace her FOB with theirs to do the doors, trunk, panic, etc then that would be a bonus because her FOBS are getting kinda worn out.
I don't care at all about alarms. We don't even lock the car.

The car has pretty high miles, and this would be a nicety-gift for Xmas. I probably want to give it to her more than she wants it (boy that sounds vaguely familiar from somewhere). SO...I'm looking for value, not ultimate quality. BTW, I really have no idea how much systems cost.

Any places you can point me? And a brief description of what will be involved??

Thank you so much!

A remote start with keyless entry is fairly inexpensive and will do all that you are asking.  You still have to
decide and few more things.  How much range do you need?  Most systems will provide twice the range of the
factory FOBs but some can go almost a mile.  Next, do you want confirmations to your commands?  That is called
two-way.  And finally, if you want two-way, do you want a beep/light confirmation or something with a LCD
screen and a graphic display?  Just like anything else, the more bells & whistles, the higher the price.

A basic R/S / keyless one way system with 1000' feet of range will cost about $60.  Go with a quality name brand
system like Compustar, Ultra Start, Avital, etc.  Stay away from anything that uses the oil pressure switch
instead of monitoring an actual Tach signal.

Your car does not require a bypass module, so that will save time & money.  Obtain several wiring guides and
compare them to each other and the vehicle.  Always locate and verify each wire with a DMM before making the
connection to the R/S.  Solder all the connections and use quality electric tape to insulate.  Plan on 6 hours
under the dash.
