Subject: remote starter not working
Date Posted: November 12, 2011 at 9:56 AM

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima with a Astro Start Remote control engine starter. I believe the model on the box is MV1578704 part # is 392-127-300 rev-1. The box flashes 4 times then pauses and flashes 4 times constantly . If I use the remote to start the car it will crank but not start so I know the remote is working. The box does have about 8 or 9 dip switches. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I believe the correct model number is AstroStart® RS-613

I believe so. It's located driver side near the fuse box. I can take a picture of it if that would help.

Put the key in the ignition without turning it. If the car starts it's a bypass issue. You should post a picture...

Ok the car started using the remote with the key in the ignition. Here is a picture of the device that shows the light blinking 4 times. So what do I do next?

Another note to add is the remote start did work in this car, but all of a sudden it stopped working. And like I said the blinking lights ( 4 blinks) must be a code of what the problem is. Does anyone have any ideas?????

Like he said, it is a bypass issue. Do you know what bypass is being used? It should be an additional little box somewhere near the starter.

I can't seem to find the bypass unit. I tried a reset to the brain dip switch 7. Now the brain is blinking like 19 times.

Can anyone tell me how to reprogram it. I think I set it back to factory default. It blinks about 19 times and the remote will not even open the doors now.

If you could provide the make and model of your remote starter, I'm sure someone will be able to help.

^^ Sorry about that post. I didn't realize I was brought to the 2nd page of the thread.
As someone mentioned earlier, it appears your bypass module needs to be reprogrammed.
To find the bypass module, I would open the cover around the key switch. There should be a wire looped around the key switch that should lead to the bypass module.

But the problem now is that I set it back to factory default and need instructions on how to re=program it.
