Hi I have just added a 508D to my viper 5901. It's a fantastic product really. But on the other hand I am also concerned about how safe is this ultra high frequency 508D uses to the car passenger. Any of the 508D user has an answer? Don't seem to be able to find much information on this.

Just be careful how you cross the road and don't use a cellphone. Don't be silly. Do you own a gun?
The output power is about 1millionth of a current cellphone. Also if you've plugged it into a MUX port, it's only live when the alarm is on, if you've directly wired it, then connect the the 508 black wire to the GWA wire the alarm.

Thanks Howie. Pardon me for being too apprehensive as I have children as my car passenger

That's a different situation, please make sure it only goes live when the alarm is on as I posted above, I was being rather facetious and apologise for that as I sit in my tiny office room, 2 feet from a 22" PC screen with 2 Wifi units, 2 cellphones, 1 digital cordless radio frequency wire less keyboard and mouse and wonder why I have a headache unless I get out for a walk.
And did I mentioned the EM signature of a late model car without a 508d?
Bluetooth, 2 processors or more, linked Google maps etc, via 3G/4G, and as for keyless go.....

If I disarmed the alarm, tested on the 508D and the alarm didn't trigger. Then I armed the alarm and tested on the unit again and it triggered. Is that what you meant by making sure the 508D only goes live when it is armed?

No, test the 508d black lead, see if it goes to ground when the alarm is OFF. If so reconnect to alarm (assuming DEI product) orange GWA wire.
If you can get at the 508d, you can do it visually, when you get close with the alarm on, the green (on the 508d) LED should light up.
This shouldn't happen with the alarm off, if it does see above.

I am a layman. So really has no ideal where the black wire goes to as i have left it to th installer. But I did carry out a visual test on the 508D by looking at the green and red bulbs whether it got lighted up when the alarm was disarmed as compared to that it was armed. My observation was the red and green bulbs did not light up when the alarm was disarmed but they did when the alarm was armed. Would that pass the test that the 508D only goes live when the alarm is armed.
Do you mean when the 508D unit is not connected properly, the green and red bulbs can get lighted up indicating that the sensor is actually on even when the alarm is disarmed?

It means yours is wired correctly, it won't be on when anyone is in the car.
