Ive been installing dei for a long time ive been using the 4103 from dei mostly with no issues until recently. It looks as if they changed the system a Little. The tach threshold jumper is gone, the remotes no longer glow in the dark the buttons are black now.   As for my issue the last 2 cars i did with this system (99 lincoln town car and 2011 kia sorento) both had issues with tach i tried both using coil wires and they would learn tach but not run. I swapped the lincoln to a fuel injector relearned tach and so far so good. As for the kia I ran a tach wire. Learned tach car ran for like 5 mins then shut down. Tried virtual tach same thing car ran for 5 mins then shut down. Tried voltage sense same problem. I ended up turning engine checking off and setting the crank time to 1 second car runs full cycle.   I would try a fuel injector but the kia doesn't have normal injectors it has direct injection. Any one have any suggestions ?

Engine management or rear of gauges for Tach?

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

I was thinking the cam sensor next to try it easy to get to. Back Of cluster I want to avoid not a fun task to remove cluster. Just weird of done probably 50 2011 and 2012 Kia sorentos with no issues using the coil as my tach. Now that they have made changes it doesn't work.   Never used a cam sensor 3 wires power ground and signal correct ?

Yes, 12v+ ignition, ground and sensor, probably one end of cylinder block level with camshaft. A Hall effect switch every time the camshaft turns full circle, it generates a true pulse, probably the most accurate place to pick up tach.
In my experience, Avital which was started by Clifford about 15 years ago now seems to be the place where they market the rubbish end of their line-up.
No I won't lose my account, DEI UK or what's left of it knows my views only too well.
