I'm not sure of the exact model of my rs, but it is a 4 button compustar with the cm3000 brain. I had this installed in my nissan acouple of years ago- and I liked it so much that I took it out of my truck upon sale.

I am now trying to install it into my 99 GMC Jimmy. I have everything hooked up, all the dash lights fire up, the truck rolls over, then once it "fires" it shuts off. I have tried mulitpule sources for the tach signal, and it is presently on the pc,- pin 20 red plug. I had also tried it on the coil with no difference. I am aware of the immobilizer, however the unit will not start my truck even with the key in the ignition. I have double checked all my wiring, and even put in a new ground with no difference.

Any suggestions? Cuz I am stumped..................

Thanks

Think you have Passlock2 in that Jimmy.  No transponder in the key.  It's a resistor in the ignition cylinder.  You would have to turn the key to ON but that defeats the purpose of the remote start test.

ahhh, that certainly makes sense. I was under the impression that there was a chip in my key.

Guess not....thanks- off to get a bypass I suppose

Here is a link to a "relays & resistor" type bypass for the Passlock2 system  :  https://www.wiringinstructions.com/v2/diagrams200/238%20-%20General%20Motors%20Passlock%202%20Interface%20System.pdf
