Have a 06 mazda 6 with compustar 6000as. Remote start worked as advertised for a good month and now the trunk opens on its own about twice a week. The alarm triggers every time it opens, getting kind of annoying. I have the output (-) from the compustar going to (-) yellow wire at switch. Am i getting feedback some how? Do i need to isolate it with a diode or Relay? Thanks for the help.

What are the chances that you are accidentally pressing the button on the remote? Try disconnecting the wire to see if the problem stops.

Well its my wife's car. I asked her the same question, and she assured me that she wasn't. I am going to try that when i get home, just wanted to see if anyone had same issue. Thanks for the reply.

I could only think of a few things, like you and "i am an idiot" were thinking.
---Some kind of weak ground is escaping from the Compustar unit. You could use the Compustar's output to trigger a relay, and then the relay's output to trigger the trunk release wire on the car.
---Maybe your wiring is either not well taped, or is chafing against body metal. I remember looking at a customer's Chevrolet Cavalier where the installer ran the trunk release wire too close to body metal, then it rubbed through, and then the car's trunk opened randomly.
---It could be your wife hitting the trunk button by accident. But, what happens when you hit the trunk button on purpose? Does the alarm go off or not? That would help you with troubleshooting....if the Compustar remote opens the trunk but doesn't make the alarm go off, then you know it's not anything your wife is doing wrong.
---There could also be something wrong with the car, you never know.
---You could have a sticky button on the remote. Or maybe a second remote that's stored someplace where it's getting bumped......fallen under a couch cushion, or in the back/bottom of a kitchen drawer where other things get thrown on top of it, et cetera.
---Also, if you have two remotes, try taking the battery out of just one remote at a time. That is, first go and take the battery out of your spare remote, leave everything alone for a week, then see what happens.
Then, put the battery back into the spare remote, give it to your wife, but also take the remote she uses and take the battery out of it and put it away.......this way you only have one working remote at a time, to see if one remote is bad/sticky.
---Where's the factory remote(s)? Maybe take the batteries out of those, too.
---Like the other guy said, if all else fails, disconnect the wire for a little while and see what happens then.
