OK so I got a 50.7x Clifford and got everything installed and working with the exception of the defog wire. This wire is a 200ma wire that I have wired directly into the switch on the dash that should go thru the factory relay per the wiring diagram in the shop manual thus eliminating the need for another relay. Am I incorrect that I am not needing another relay? I have remote started the car and verified no power to the back window with the defog turned on via the alarm. I then hit the switch on the dash and verified power to the rear widow.

Either I am needing a relay or something else is going on. Using the blue / YELLOW wire at the switch. This isn't my first alarm install however its the first with a defog option.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
James

How does the blue / YELLOW test?  12 Volts then drops when defrost button is pressed then returns to 12 volts?

I have not tried that as of yet.  Here is the Diagram of the defrost circuit of my specific car.

Since that didnt work so well here is a link to the PDF copy  https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12083647/ACE%20-%200.pdf

Test the BLK/YEL with a DMM for voltage. Keeping the red lead on the BLK/YEL press the defrost button and take notice as to what the DMM indicates on voltage. Ignition on of course.

Ignition on. Voltage reads 13.5 volts when switch is pressed and obviously 0v when switch is off.

Ignition on. voltage is 13.5. Keeping the DMM on that wire, press the defrost switch. Does the voltage change?

Sorry assumed you mentioned blue / YELLOW wire til I reread the post. Blk/yel wire reads 14v with switch on or off.

Blue/yel wire was the one that reads 0v off and 13.5 when on. Blk/yel reads hot in either situation.

Does the voltage on the BLK/YEL wire   momentarly drop    from the 13.5 volts when you press the defrost switch, and the return to 13.5 volts?

If it does it is faster than my fluke can pick up any significant voltage drop. Looking at the diagram it shows that blk/yel should be hot all the time with key on

Well I guess you could use the blue / YELLOW wire with a relay.  Can you find the blue / YELLOW wire for the defrost in the drivers kick panel or the drivers door sill?

Due to my testing am I thinking right that since my alarm has a 200mA neg output for the defrost and my testing on that wire that I would need to convert my neg output into a pos output via relay and all should work? Its been a while and trying to think after work is almost a no go in most situations as of late in my old age.

Does the voltage on the blue / YELLOW atay at 13.5 volts constant after the defrost switch is pressed?

Looking at you wiring diagram, if that blue / YELLOW stays at 13.5 volts, you should be able to use a relay to power up that wire to trigger your defrost relay. Need to set your 2nd status wire on latched mode. Menu 3, item 11, will stay on for 10 minuets.

As far as I can tell. I didn't sit there for too long but imo long enough that I would have seen a pulse signal.   From what I can understand pressing g the switch sends 12v thru to the blu/yel wire for the predetermined time setup inside the switch then unlatches the 12v feed to the factory relay.   If my thinking is correct then I need to change the negative output from the alarm into a positive output and I should be golden from that point.

There isn't much information out on the web about remote starts and the defog option on the 92-95 civic lol

Thanks again,
James

I would wire up a relay with the 86 pin to the vehicle ignition, pin 85 to the blue/white 200ma (-), Pin 87 to 12 volts and pin 30 to the blue / YELLOW going to the defrost relay.

Wouldn't it be this diagram? https://www.the12volt.com/relays/relaydiagram8.html. this is for converting a negative alarm output to a positive output and is different than what you recommended

Thanks again

prevents extra current draw, and it will only with with the ignition on. same idea just a more bullet proof way to prevent unwanted draw if the car is not running.

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the help.  I was finally able to get around to wiring up the defrost to the alarm.  It is now all hooked up and I register voltage at the rear defrost grid.   A few more things to wire up as added options on the alarm and it is all good to go.  Gotta install the trunk solenoid and wire that up as well as I am thinking I want to dome light supervision hooked up.  Ohh boy..  More relays that can go bad  LOL..

Other than that just about every option that I can think of that I want/need is all hooked up and working without a hitch.

Thanks again,

James
