I've just installed the Viper 5501 RS on my 05 Subaru Outback 3.0R VDC and it works great.... but I had a good bit of trouble with the factory alarm disarm and arm wires. So much trouble that they are simply just not wired in to the 5501.

Without connecting to the disarm/arm wires, the XKey bypass unit disarms the factory alarm with only a couple beeps from the car horn. If I lock/unlock the car with the viper remote, It doesnt arm the factory alarm so therefor it doesnt need to disarm it. If I lock the doors from the car and unlock it from the viper FOB, the factory alarm goes off.

On the BIU 35 pin plug, most wire diagrams say yellow/red is factory disarm and Brown is factory arm. Most posts suggest to meter for these wires by using the key in the driver door. What I found on these wires is that they are constantly hot until interrupted by the key in the door (unlocking = yellow/red, locking = brown) at which point they just disconect (not showing ground).

Are these the right wires?
How should it be wired?
The 5501 requires, as far as I understand it, to relay either a + or - 12v to each. Not interrupt the constant 12v.
I can interrupt the wires with a relay but it seems like it shouldnt be that involved.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.
Rob

Here is a picture of the BIU with the wires marked  :

This picture is from a 2006 Outback and a standard (-) 200mA disarm pulse straight from the R/S brain worked fine.

Thanks for the reply. Those are the wires I used for lock and unlock. They are N/O until the looks trigger with a - pulse. Worked fine straight off the RS.
The yellow/red is the one that shows N/C hot until the door key cylinder unlocks which opens the circuit.
I feel like putting the RS -200MA trigger to this constant hot wire is a No No.

Thanks again for any help,
Rob
