I have a 2005 Honda Element that I installed an Avital 4103 Remote start and a bypass module about a year ago. Everything worked perfectly for a year and all of a sudden it's having problems. I can remote start the car and it starts as usual. When I get in the car and step on the brake pedal, wtihout putting the key in the ignition, I expect the car to shut off but instead the dash/gague lights begin flashing rapidly and the car doesn't shut down as it's suppose to. Any suggestions, thanks in advance for any help.

silly question, do you have any bulbs out, be it brake or parking lights?

X 2 with dasbogie, plus have you changed any bulbs recently, also please check all of your fuses.

i would check the brake shutdown wire. check for a wire tapped into the brake wire.

Good thinking Ted, in fact it's the obvious answer, turn on ignition and meter the brake light wire at the Avital plug, make sure it goes to 12v+ when you push the brake pedal down.
