I just completed an alarm install last weekend into my 2001 Cherokee.  I have a Crime Guard 745i3 system by Omega.  I am experienced in electronics and have installed about 3 or 4 alarm systems in the past, so I'm not really a beginner, but I'm no pro either.  It took me about 8 hours to get everything in, all the sensors, hiding kill switches etc.  How long does it take you all?  I'm putting the same system in an Altima soon, so I was just curious.  Thanks for the feedback.

Hey awd_sr,

That's a trick question.  If it's for a paying customer in a busy shop then in about two to three hours with door locks in a Cherokee 2001.  I use a 455J Databus controller from DEI to control factory arm/disarm, doorlocks with driver's door priority, and domelight supervision.

If it's for me or a customer who's ready to shell out a few extra dollars then twice that time.  For that price I remove the inner fender to hide the siren, all wires are passed in loom or taped with factory tape to immitate the OEM harnesses or I'll hide it in a guttet out BCM or cruise box which I place in a typical location under the dash or seat. posted_image

depends on the alarm and vehicle.cant put a time on any vehicle.depends if it has a good loom, or a birds nest of wire .if there was a previous alarm installed it helps most of the time. as the wires have already been discovered.but sometimes it is such a mess, it seems like you are rewiring the car !

I can't agree more with cva2000 about the " birds nest ". I prefer a fresh car than a car with a previously installed system for the fact that you never know what the other mofo installer did to the wires !! Fresh is always better..... right ??posted_image

thanks fellas, I think when you are doing a job for yourself, you take extra care and time because you know exactly what you want.  I had fun doing it too, I just hate trying to solder underneath the steering column...  thanks again
