Installed Viper 5501 with DB-All with latest firmware this last weekend. DB-All programmed Finished all wiring, soldered joints and when remote start engaged, I get the response from remote that engine is started but engine did not rotate. Door locks operate fine. Programmed out of mts for automatic. No trouble codes listed. Any thoughts. Current start wire config is viper violet to mdx Yellow, viper pink to mdx pink and db-all pink to mdx pink. Am I missing something.

no ACC wire?
use a dmm and meter the start wire. if the unit has a green and violet wire for a start kill, make sure the purple is towards the car, and green is towards the key cylinder.

Thanks Tedmond. Will check break out DMM and have someone else verify the colors. Im colorblind and had someone check my work last week. Maybe he was also colorblind. Good thing aircraft wires are all numbered and no colors to match at all. The db-all and 5501 for mdx does not show a kill hookup however brake and neutral wires exist and are verified with dmm . In D2D mode from what I can tell is that the only two large gauge wires needed for start are pink:(+) ignition 1 input/output and violet: starter output. From the db-all the immobilizer data line ORANGE / black is connected to light green car side immo data and lt green CAN is connected to lt green CAN on vehicle and pink ign input is connected to pink ign input/output on vehicle. out side of power connections and pk lights that all on diagram that I have from DEI. Sound correct?

Where do you have the red 12v constant wire connected to from the 5501? Also, what happens when you press the remote start button? Does the ignition / acc come on? Can you hear the fuel pump kick on? And finally, what setting do you have the engine sensing on.. true tach, virtual tach, or voltage?

The red 12v constant is on the white constant 12v supply located on the ign harness on the mdx. When the remote start is pressed, viper responds that vehicle is started and begins timer countdown. No fuel pump, no parking lights, no rotation, no relays chattering, no ign/acc. Setting is currently set to virtual tach. Tried learning virtual tach and still no joy. Appreciate everyone input so far on this. Anything else to try? Seems like the immobilizer is still active for some reason. Checked continuity on immobilizer line and CAN line to viper and all OK. Door locks and unlocks fine and OEM key start and fob locks work fine. Perplexed I am. Probably something simple...always turns out to be.

The immobilizer wouldn't prevent the ignition from being activated. it would just crank the car and not start, or start then immediately shut off. So I doubt it is the immobilizer. And it doesn't make sense that the starter is counting down without the car running (it should be verifying the start).
I would recheck all of your ignition wires because something def. isn't right. Also check your ground connection. Where do you have it grounded right now?

I used the following vehicle connections from https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/diagrams/printpage.asp?ModelID=203.
Difference, no H3/6 PINK/WHITE IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY OUT since IGN 2 NA and no H3/2 RED / WHITE (+) FUSED (30A) FLEX RELAY since IGN 2 NA. Should be installed?

The Red AND RED / White wires should go to the 12v constant (WHITE)
The Pink Ignition should go to the Ignition 1 (PINK)
The Pink/White 2nd Ignition should go to the Acc 2 (RED)
*Make sure you program that output to be 2nd accessory instead of 2nd ignition
The Orange Accessory wire should go to the Acc 1 (ORANGE)
The Purple Starter Wire should go to the Starter wire (YELLOW)

Thanks guys. Appears that I was confused over the IGN 2 and assumed not needed as NA in 2 separate sources and Viper instructions are not clear on their use . Will hook up the Pink/White and RED / White and give it a go this weekend. You guys and this site rocks! Hope this does it.
Again Thanks,
Jeff

How many times do you have to tell people to always connect the red, RED / white and RED / black?

What I was trying to say was that unless you're a pro and /or know the vehicle and r/s inside out, blindfolded etc. ALWAYS connect those wires.
Problems because people haven't done that come up at least once a week.
I'll go further, if this is one of the Hondas protected by a 50 amp fuse in the engine bay fusebox, then you don't even need to fuse the remote start provided it's within 8-19 inches of the source.

Howie II, If you are telling people to many times to connect the RED / RED / white and RED / black, perhaps it is not the people that are failing here. Perhaps it is the lack of the detail in the instructions on the use of these wires. Probably at some time your were given enough instruction or learned by tribal knowledge to use those wire. The people connecting those wires just don't think that connecting half of the wires required and expect it to work as it takes only little effort to connect those wires you are referring to. It could have been as simple as a * to indicate that these wires are required connections for the installation. And for that someone who does not know were to connect, a life line to this forum would provide the answers before someone connects in the wrong and wipes out expensive equipment. As in my case, where no diagrams were found for the installation of these wires from DEI and other source, so, as to the others that are probably in the same where these are not called out in the instructions.

Agreed, DEI installation manuals are deliberately vague. The main reason is that DEI feels that Viper units are to be installed by trained Viper techs. No warranty or support on DIY installed units.

I agree about the lack of detail, but these are NEVER DIY jobs.
Joe Public isn't given the instructions in Europe, they are only given to professional installers.
I analyse a lot of the problems and the problem you had comes up many a time hence it was easier for me to post that previous comment an experience based comment and a piece of generic advice.
