I am looking for some answers because I am totally confused how this could happen?  I had my 2002 300m stolen right in front of my house about 2 weeks a go. The only security on it is the factory immobilizer and alarm.  The car was found today and I went to go get it.  I figured since it could not be started without the key the car was towed away when it was stolen.  That was not the case.  The cylinder was smashed so the inginition could be turned with a screwdriver.  Now, the immobilizer was ripped off hanging there still plugged to the wires.  My question is how did they drive this car off? How were they able to start this car and keep it running with out the transponder key?  I am not looking to be a thief but I want to know if the factory immobilizer can be easily bypassed by any common thief?  Is this system really that easy to get around?

Thank you

I woulds also like to know if the skim module locks you out if the car is started without a key many times? If it does can it be reset?  I am trying to restart the car with a screwdriver and holding the key against the skim module but I am noticing a small crack in the ring.  Not sure if it is broken or the car is locking me out?
