hi everyone..
i have a civic 1999 hatch with automatic transmission, i recently bought a compustar remote starter combo with cm5000 brain..
here is what did..

1 red - (+) 12 constant) i connect this wire together with the RED / white wire in the 12v constant white wire in the ignition harness.
2 GREEN / WHITE - (+) parking light i connect this wire in the RED / black wire in the drivers kick panel.
3 RED / white (12v constant) it has a separated RED / white wire prewired to 2nd relay it has violet and green wire(i did not connect the violet and green wire.
4 white (+) accessories i connect this to WHITE/ black wire in the ignition harness.
5 violet (-) prewired to starter kill relay
6 yellow (+) starter (prewired to starter kill relay) which has yellow and yellow/balack wire, i cut the BLACK/ white wire and connect yellow wire from the stareter kill relay going to the starter side and the yellow/black wire from the starter kill relay going to the key side.
7 green and red wire (+) red wire is also prewired to the starer kill relay and i connect the green wire to yellow wire in the ignition harness.
8 body ground

brake input - i connect this to the GREEN / WHITE wire in the brake pedal.
tach/alternator input - i connect this in the light blue wire in the ignition coil.

i already cut the wire green loop inside the brain for my transmission. the remote responds to the brain because when i press the lock/unlock it show in the lcd screen.. but when i press the remote start button it says start er01.

what wrong with my connections.. please help me...

thank you very much..

At a quick glance what have you connected to the vehicle's black yellow ignition wire?

-------------
Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Just had a look at the wiring diagram, the green should not go to the yellow which is a second accessory, it should go to the vehicle BLACK / YELLOW.
For the second accessory (vehicle yellow) look at page 14.

yellow wire is the second ignition according to the wiring info of the vehicle..and i will remove the green wire from the brain and solder it in the BLACK / YELLOW wire in the ignition harness..

thank you..

It's actually a 2nd ACC though some alarm companies list it incorrectly as a second ignition.
The point is it has absolutely NOTHING to do with actually starting the vehicle.
As far as I'm aware of it controls things like wipers etc.
Glad you listened and that should cure your problem.

you have not programmed tach.

start the car with the key, step on the brake pedal, press and hold the start button on the remote. this will make the unit learn tach.

and yes the compustar starter kill works when you lock the vehicle and it also disables starter when remote started (anti grind)

thank you for the reply..
i already try to make the unit learn the tach..but when i press the start button in the remote i also get start er01, did i connect the wrong wire in the tach or i need to program the remote to make tach sensing the default setting..and one more thing i have a engine light on which is the MAP sensor is it possible that MAP sensor is interfering with the tach learning?

start error 1 means you have not programmed tach prior to first startup.

you dont just press and hold the start button on the remote.

read my instructions again. car must be running with key, press on the brake pedal and HOLD IT. press and hold the start button on the remote. Unit will click and leg go of button/brake pedal. try to RS.

what steps are you doing exactly while programming tach?

1) press unlock on the remote to disarm the system
2) start the car with the key and let it run
3) step on the brake pedal and hold it. Continue to hold until step 5
4) press and hold the start button on the compustar remote.
5) remote will beep or vibrate once. NOW you can remove your foot from the brake pedal
6) shut car off and remove key.

try to remote start the car with the remotes.

If it still does not start, the tach setting was probably changed.
Go to programming menu, option 2, setting 10. Change it to 1 for tach input 2-10-1
Tach Sensing
The default engine sensing mode is tach. In cold weather climates we recommend using an injector wire
verses a coil wire for tachometer sense. There are new features that adjust tach reading methods on
option 2-01. IMPORTANT: The remotes must be coded prior to setting up tach sensing. Firstech
recommends using a digital multimeter to test for tach.
STEP 1: Start the vehicle with the key. Allow time for the engine to idle down.
STEP 2: Test wire and make connection. At idle the tach wire should test between 1 to 4 Volts AC. As
the vehicle RPM’s increase the voltage on the meter will also increase. Always solder tach connections.
STEP 3: Learn tach. While the vehicle is at idle, hold the foot brake and press and hold the remote start
button on the remote control for 2.5 seconds.
The parking lights will flash once and the siren will chirp once to confirm a good tach signal. The parking
lights will flash three times and the
siren will chirp three times to
indicate the tach did not learn. Two
seconds following the three flashes,
the number of parking light flashes
will indicate the cause of the error:

flashes tach learn error
1 Option 2-10 is not in default setting 1
2 Key is in the off position
3 Bad tach signal. Find a different wire.

sorry to say, but programming tach can only get so easy. IF you cant program it, just bring it to a compustar dealer/shop and tell them the car wont start (and you had it installed elsewhere) they should be able to program tach for you

thank you very much guys..
