I need a simple remote start system that will not shut off in the normal 15-20 min that most do. I am putting in on my gas generator so the restricted run times that most remote starts have create a problem. I need it to keep running for hours at a time. Anyone know of a unit that either has an infinite run time or that can be disabled?

Thanks alot

Lee

The latest higher-end Audiovox units have a runtime for up to 60 minutes. Prestige APS901C or Pursuit PRO9056C. Both units are the same; the remotes just look different.

I've never worked with Crimestopper, but I believe they at one time had what you want, and even used the same terminology you did: Infinity Run Time or something like that.

I would check into Crimestopper to start. Don't trust any website or salesperson; the websites of nearly all the manufacturers are full of errors, omissions, and misinformation.

Whatever you choose to buy, don't buy it until you can read the installation guide and look at the programming menu to make sure it has what you want. Many manufacturers have the installation guide available online in PDF form.

thanks, I think the crimestoppers have a feature that allow you leave the vehicle with your keys in hand and have it running. That may be what you are thinking about. I tried to call tech at crimestopper today but did not get through, I'll try again later. I have also figured out how to do it with a latched relay set but it would be so nice to just find a unit wih what I want built in. You would think this would be easy, maybe someone will know of something.

Find the cheapest stand-alone R/S, use the lock* and an aux output to trigger a dual coil latching relay linked to the ignition from a constant source, e.g. Omron, Google Mouser or Farnell, sending the unlock will latch the relay constantly, the aux will then turn it off when you are ready to shut it down, kind of super turbo timer!
*Or two aux outputs.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Just thought I would update, I found the perfect solution. The Bulldog RA10. It is a universal remote system that flls my needs exactly. Here is a link in case someone else could use it for something.
