Hi there, I was just wondering on a 2003 gmc sierra 1500 base model truck, if i am wiring up the door locks to work with a remote start system. Is all i have to do is supply a ground to the lt. blue and white wires going into the BCM to have the doors lock and unlock? If anyone could give me some ideas on what needs to be done here that would be great. Thanks

It is a pro start remote starter. not sure of model if if it helps the part number is CT-5472TW and brief description of the system is 6 button 2-Way LCD AM Starter/Alarm/Keyless Entry (Auto/Man. Let me know if that is helpful. Its for my buddies truck and he purchased it at a Canadian Tire store.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference being a Canadian truck, but if it's like the US '03 model you should get yourself a bypass module that integrates with the vehicle's OBD2 plug (purple wire) and controls the locks and passlock 2 system.  To control the door locks without using a module, you will need to run wires into both the driver's and passenger's doors.  Your idea of zpping the blue and whte wires at the BCM only works on Sierras through '02.

Here is what DEI shows for that truck (US model):

If interface module is not available, refer to Tech Doc 1601.
The driver door lock/unlock motor wires are gray - tan (5 wire)
at the driver window switch, black 26 pin plug, pins 21 and 20.
The passenger door lock/unlock motor wires are gray - tan (5 wire)
at the passenger window switch, black 26 pin plug, pins 10 and 11.
The rear doors power lock/unlock wires are gray/black (-) - tan/black
(-) at the BCM, gray plug, pins A6 and A3. The BCM (Body Control Module)
is under the driver dash. It has 6 plugs, the purple plug is on the back.

ON BASE MODELS, THE POWER LOCK - UNLOCK WIRES ARE LT. BLUE - WHITE (-) AT THE BCM, LT. BLUE PLUG, PINS B5 and B10.

If the truck is not truly a base model and you are not planning to use a bypass module,
here is a link that shows how to do the locks.
