Hey All,
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS. I'm installing a Viper 5901 and have gotten stuck on the door locks. Neither of my remotes are able to control the lock and unlock functions.
Here's what I know:
(1) The Viper is powered because I was able to pair both the 1-way and 2-way remotes and the status LED and siren chirps functioned.
(2) On my vehicle, the power lock/unlock wires are the orange and ltGREEN/ black wires in the kick panel.
(3) I have a factory Mitsu alarm.
(4) The blue and green wires from the 5901 are connected to the orange and ltGREEN/ black wires in the kick panel.
(5) Remote does communicate because I can trigger the panic with the remote without a key in the ignition.
(6) I have a DEI wiring sheet for my vehicle.
Here's what I don't know:
(1) Am I missing something painfully obvious?
Thanks in advance for any help.
R.

How did you verify the wires were correct?
The light GREEN/ black and orange wires are the arm/disarm wires that come from the key switch. Meter the wire while turning the key in the driver's door to make sure you are on the correct wires. Unlock requires you to program the Viper piece for a double pulse when using those wires.
Since you say you have a factory alarm those wires should work fine. However, there should also be purple (lock) and light GREEN/ red (unlock) wires that are from the door lock switch. These are also negative pulse. They should be in the kick panel, as well as at the fuse box in the top black plug.

I noticed that on the DEI sheet where it would normally have the wire color code has "Arms/Disarms with Lock/Unlock" for "Factory Alarm Arm/Disarm"
What I took that to mean is that by connecting the green and blue wires from the 5901 to the correct wires to control the locks that the factory system would arm and disarm without needing to connect the "OEM ALARM DISARM/ARM" wires from the other Viper harness.
Now if I combine that with that I beleive you are saying I would need to connect the blue and green wires from the viper to not only the orange and ltGREEN/ black wires of my vehicle, but also the purple and ltGREEN/ red wires.
I'm done for today on the car. I'm just trying to get a plan for tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.
