Hi
I've just bought a 1994 Miata with a Clifford alarm system. No manual and the seller didn't have a clue. Can anyone tell me which model it is? Then I might be able to understand all the wires and controlers.
Thanks Paul ------------- Paul

Find the brain, it will be marked.

Find the brain, should be pretty easy in that vehicle, it will have the model embossed on the casing. It's probably a Nova or a Novell or an early Eagle.

Howie, when you say early eagle? I was cleaning up yesterday and found a Black Eagle box including a brain, all connectors and a shock sensor. I figured the chance of finding a remote was slim to none. I threw it away. Was that a Clifford product?

Craig, black Eagle or Black Eagle, if the second no.
I recently slung away a load of old remotes, can't get any back-up any more and it's usually easier to sell people a new alarm.
Eagle and Eagle II, different remotes and a single zone prox on the II from about 85 to 95, absolutely bulletproof, also the only alarm factory fitted to Rolls Royce early-mid nineties.

It could have been an Arrow II, that came out in 94, they had about 40 different alarm systems back then.

It was branded Black Eagle. It appeared to be junk. I did find an Invisibeam unit with speaker and prox sensor. Just no remote nor harnesses.

If have an Invisibeam MkIV, data plug and play with G4 Cliffords, unfortunately not with G5 or any other DEI product, probably the only one left in the UK.

Folks
Thanks for all the replys. I'm a true rookie on alarm systems. When I got this car I was given a remote with not info. There is one control on the consul a a couple of after market switches which don't seem to do anything. I pulled the door panels off to replace speakers and found out I had remote door locks. I pulled the center cover off the dash and found a fuse holder without a fuse. Put in a fuse and the siren when off. Disconected the siren and the buttons on the remote seem to work with the consul control. I tried to trace the wires but between the factory wiring and at least three Clifford boxes with no number just Clifford on them it is pretty tight. The whole works is zap strapped together.
I don't want to start pulllng things apart. Actually I don't really need the alarm system but would like the remote door locks.
Now the wisdom I need: Do I try to figure it out or just bypass everything and get myself a remote door kit and wire it into the car?
Thank again

Wiring colours chopped and changed, you can do anything you want but if you aren't prepared to get at the alarm in the first case......
When you replaced the fuse and the siren sounded, all you had to do was to press button 1 on the remote.
If the remote doesn't work, replace remote battery then turn on the ignition and flip that console switch X times. I say X times because without knowing what model we can't tell you so help us to help your self. And it's only the largest module you need to look at.
The others will be a shock sensor possibly on the steering column, a relay and possibly an early proximity detector in the centre console.

Thanks Howie
I hooked up a test light to the siren wire. That way I could play with it without going deaf. I never did find the main module, I believe it is tucked behind the radio. I now have they system working except for the door locks.
Thank you for your help

Look for two wires from the main unit to a pair of relays, the relays should also have a joint ground and a constant 12v+ feeding them with two wires going to the drivers door if this didn't have pop-up headlights, if it did two going to each door.
Bet they've either lost their ground or there's no 12v+ constant, fuse failed?
If this vehicle had the pop-up headlights, because of the inside door layout it was an absolute nightmare to get aftermarket power locks to a work and b stay working! I would refuse to install them on the basis of guaranteeing one's labour.
