Ok, so i've installed quite a few remote starts but when it comes to newer vehicles i have been trying to stay away but i have to put one in a 2011 jeep liberty with factory security. i am going to be installing a dei viper system. my big problem is the only way i have bypassed cars before was with the key in the box 555u. it appears like that technology wont work on these newer ones lol, so i need to know what bypass i should be getting to install a remote start in this, i am lookin for an easy to use one. thanks in advance

use a fortin EVO-CHR, you have 4 connections to make only. Ground, 12v constant, parking lights and hood pin.
you can do an alarm/start prep/install in under 45min.

ok so with that unit its a direct plug and play t harness from what i can see and all i have to do it connect a d2d wire from it to the 5701 viper and then the 4 connections off the remote start as you said, power, ground, p. lights, and hood pin and thats its? im done? seems too easy? def. not familiar with this type of remote start installation.

the fortin piece is not compatible with the viper through DBI d2d. in your case you will just use wire to wire, run a constant 12v source from the batt and you are done, super easy to do, no tricks or bs.
the xpresskit DBALL will work d2d, but there are more connections to make. the idatalink ads-al-ca will also do the same job but more connections compared to fortin.

the vehicle is all controlled through a Multiplex (MUX) system. it is all low current so the bypass module can do all of that for you. the hard work is done, youre just gettin power at the batt or bcm.
i have done several of these and they are so easy to do.
the benefit the fortin has over idatalink/xpresskit, its already flashed with a universal firmware for all domestics.
the ads-a;-ca pr dball will require an updated usb cable. unless you buy it preflashed.

what systems out there do work d2d with the fortin? say just a very basic start the car kind of system. I already have the viper 5701 and it does have a d2d port on it, why is it that it will not work? if it will not what connections will i have to make? all the same as a regular remote start i.e. ign. starter. acc. second ign. etc?

I don't understand what the huge fascination with D2D is. It takes a matter of minutes to add a bypass w2w and its 100x more reliable. Save yourself future headache and take the extra few minutes to wire it. You can do it all in the comfort/warmth of your house or at the bench in your garage and will save you a ton of headache and backache from trying to go through and find something that isn't working right.

every unit that has d2d capable ports work with Fortin EXCLUDING Directed products (viper, clifford, etc)
all units can work d2d with idatalink pieces if flashed appropriately.
the method that would work for you is called w2w or wire-to-wire. you match up the in/outputs of the viper to the respectful connection on the bypass.
some heat shrink tubing, soldering iron, and additional 20 min will make diagnostics easy if you ever have problems.

ok that clears up alot of questions, but i have a couple more if you would. The heavy gauge ignition wires from the remote start? unit get hooked to the small gauge harness that comes with the fortin? from what it looks like the outputs needed are the lock and unlock output from the viper to the fortin, the while running output, starter, and ignition from viper to fortin and that should be it to get it to start and function lock and unlock correct? thanks again

correct majority of the wires from the viper go to the Fortin.as i mentioned only the parking lights, ground, constant 12v and hood pin need to be used. everything else is done by the fortin piece, since this car is strictly databus (multiplex)

Make sure to get your constant 12v either directly from the battery or from the BCM. The ignition harness 12v is only capable of 10amps.

the passenger kick panel also has a high current 12v.
