Don't even think about doing this without a CANMAX 400 or similar.

Just looking into doing a basic alarm & adding actuators. No remote start. Vehicle is plain.

And I will repeat what I just said, the 400 isn't a by-pass!
Having said that the vehicle can be done W2W but it's a right PITA. I've done loads of these, left and right hand drive. If anything the left hand drive is even harder.
In essence you have a body control module adjacent to the steering column, in left hand drives it's evil to get at. On that module are the 4 separate door triggers + hood switch if you pm me I can email a photo of the similar module from a European Polo, nothing else in the US by VW has the same module.
Door triggers indicators (lights are only used in North America) power ground and ignition are all on that module.
You will need a Torx T20 and lots of patience!
The door actuators especially at the rear are going to be nightmares, over here all power locks and most with power windows. Could this vehicle be Mexican, I didn't know it was sold the US.
