I have a Compustar 4200 remote starter in my daughters 2003 Ford Escape it was installed by a Audio/Video shop it has worked flawlessly since we bought it, my daughter left the lights on and the battery drained completely I boosted the vehicle now the starter will not work, the lights don't flash when you lock the doors although the door locks still work but I have nothing. I checked the power coming into the unit, it is getting power I checked the ground it is grounded. Could I have fried the module when I boosted the car? What else could be wrong

There should be two fuses supplying power to the CM4200 brain. At the CN1 six pin, heavy gauge connector, check the fuses in the Red and RED / White wires. They are usually 30 Amp fuses. Verify each one with a meter.

See if it is in valet mode. On the newer Compustar units, if a battery is disconnected (or goes dead) the unit automatically goes into valet mode as a safety. If you don't have the user manual, I'll see if I can find it..
Edit: Put key in ignition and turn to on. Press buttons I&III for .5 seconds until the lights flash. If they flash once, it is in valet mode, if they flash twice it was removed from valet mode. You can also put it into/take it out of valet mode by cycling the key to "on" 5 times in 10 seconds.

i have yet to see a compustar unit hop into valet from a dead batt. It always retains the last "mode" it was set to. for example if it was armed, it will stay armed if power was removed, then re-applied. i left my audison bit one turned on last night when i was tuning it, batt went dead and it the comp stayed armed even when i was boosting the car. ------------- Ted

I agree, I haven't seen it myself (haven't been working with Compustar for that long yet), but I know its a possibility so I figured I'd give it a shot. Apparently it was one of the few.. haha ------------- Kenny

the newer series are bulletproof. the previous batch of cm4200/cm3000 brains without installer updates would randomly hop into valet, or the options would default on its own.
great suggestion btw kenny ------------- Ted

So basically the suggestion was right, just the reasoning for it going into valet was wrong... haha. Looks like I got lucky this time.
