Hello, all. New kid here.

I have a Viper 500ESP installed in my '94 GMC Safari. I'd like to be able to open the rear hatch with it. I see that AUX can be programmed to do this via the RED / white or blue/white wires. The manual says these wires provide 200 ma. But what exactly does this mean? Do these wires provide the 12 volts necessary to drive a relay? I have a relay in the van already, with those nice 30 & 87 & 87a terminals but it doesn't work. Any insight would be appreciated.

wire the relay as follows : RED / white wire to pin 85, +12v fused to pin 86, ground to pin 87, & pin 30 connected to red wire @ release switch.

hatch release RED (-)

you can use the trunk release and connect it straight to RED (-) hatch release. the 250ma will trigger that wire and drive the factory relay.

Now I'm even more confused: If I read the first post correctly, this wire will provide a path to ground for the 12V on the other side of the coil. But if I read the 2nd post correctly, this wire has 12V that will trigger an existing relay.

you can use the relay and have that power the existing relay in the car, or do what i suggested, (save a relay) and connect directly to the vehicles relay coil.

either method will work.
