as long far as a remote start goes....probably the same. unless one year is fuel injected ad one year carbed. then there might be a slight difference to do with a tach wire hook up.

the stereo stuff should be the same. when comparing stereo stuff, one being a bose system and one not might need further researching.

hopefully someone will chime in with the schematic you need or give some more info on the situation.

ive seen too many voltage sensing systems keep the starter engaged once in a while. i ALWAYS use a tach wire.

starters and flex plates are too expensive compared to the extra time it takes to run wire needed for a tach wire.

luckily i have not had to do a car that didnt have a tach wire terminal. and i havent done very many cars over the past 4 years.

Nice car...I love Cadillacs!

GM wiring colors were pretty standard across the board back then. The wiring for the ignition switch, parking lights, and brake should pretty much all be the same.

The Seville should have pretty much the same wiring right from 1979 through 1985, except for whether or not it has the Bose audio system, as itsyuk said. Also, I think 1984-1985 got the bigger "DIN 1/2" radio from the other GM cars of that era, while your 1983 probably has the separate knobs on each side.

If you're replacing the radio, maybe you can find a dash panel from a 1984-1985 from a salvage yard, and then use that with an aftermarket mounting kit....that way you don't hack up the original dash. Save the original dash (and radio) for the car's next owner.

For the wiring colors, any information from a 1984 Seville should be fine, and I'll bet the DeVille should be pretty close as well, at least for the wiring colors---the cars even have the same steering column.

It's always a given that you'll be properly testing each wire before connecting to it, never rely on a wiring sheet alone. This is especially important when you go to the radio part, because you'll find two yellows, two browns, and I think even two grays in there---it's important to test them for proper function. (Or, hopefully, no one has yet hacked up the factory radio harness---in that case buy a harness for your car instead of damaging it.)
