Hello,

Unit is on a 2007 Ford Edge.

This is a Ultra start U1272-XR PRO series. I am looking at increasing the cranking time. Found two spots in the manual that list this, but they are both opposite of each other....Not sure which one is right...

In the manual page 7

Program mode 4 #,
setting two (2 LED flashe) = adjust for OVER-crank
setting three (3 LED flashes) = adjust for UNDER-crank

In same manual on page 21

program mode 4 #
setting two (2 LED flashes) = adjust for UNDER-crank
setting three (3 LED flashes) = adjust for OVER-crank

AS you can see both choices are for the same option but both are opposite from each other....

Does anyone know which order is correct?

Thanks!!!

On the Ford Edges I have done, I usually go to a F.I.  Then I warm up the engine, perform a
Factory Reset on the U1272, set the programming options, and then allow the U1272 to do an
automatic Tach learn by just starting the warm engine with the key.

You can also do a Manual Tach Re-Learn process as follows :
Press and Hold the brake pedal. Start the vehicle with the key, then press and release the
program button ( on antenna ) then hold for the button for 5 seconds. The Parking Lights
should flash twice for a successful tach learn.

As far as the conflicting info in the manual, I don't remember which is correct.  I do remember
just doing one with five 10% steps at once and got a monstrous over-crank so I knew which was
which.

Soldering is fun!

the edge should have over crank protection. set for a 3 sec crank and leave it alone. will start every time.

^^Yes it does over over crank protection on it.

I did confirm I was on a F.I

I did a factory reset, made sure engine was on warm and on low idle,   relearned the tach with the automatic Tach learn feature.

Was 9 degrees out the other day it it started right up on the first try!

So thanks you two for the answers!

BTW, Is there anyway to give rep points on this forum?
