Good morning All!!!

This weekend as i tried doing my install on 2003 ford expedition with a viper 5704 door trigger i received door open response.

I've identified my door trigger wire based on schematics to be Lightblue / black on door rear wiring as advised.

The alarm asks for a - input cable... I've also looked up dome supervision and they point me to door trigger once again....

any help would be appriciated!!!

Did you test the door trigger wire to verify it is the correct wire? How did it test?
Here is the info DEI is showing for the door trigger in that vehicle:
Door Trigger.....BLACK / YELLOW.....- N.C...... driver kick or VSM, gray plug, pin 4
Notes: The VSM (Vehicle Security Module) is high in the passenger kick panel.
Dome Supervision.....BLACK/ lt. blue.....+.....driver kick, gray 66 pin plug, pin 59

You can use the dome supervision as your alarm door trigger but it must be connected to the (+) door trigger input (violet) and know that you may get a door open response from the remote when arming until the dome light goes out. Then the door trigger zone will be armed.

Wow you give me so much great news!!!

Thanks much offroadzj!! Will try / test tonight.....Looks like i had wrong wire all this time...amazing!!!

now that i have you on the post...do you have the full vehicle DEI? just in case so i can check all my connections!

Also-How would i go about wiring up the headlights so that when alarm goes off...headlights go on / off same as the parking lights?

simplified DEI instructions https://www.readyremote.com/main.asp

I wouldnt recommend the flashing headlights. It's unnecessary draw on your battery, but that's just my opinion.

From the sounds of your post it sounds like you did not verify the wires before making the connections. That is a practice that could land you in very hot water with very costly repairs. ALWAYS make sure to verify EVERYTHING with a quality DMM before making your connections.

+1 with Ted in regards to the headlights. If someone doesn't notice the parking lights flashing, they won't notice the headlights.

Also, with the Ford door triggers, they are not normally open like most. So if you choose to use the (-) door trigger input, you will either have to set the 5704 programming to normally closed door pin (if it is an option; I don't know that exact model off the top of my head). If it is not an option, you will have to wire in a relay to convert the normally closed signal to a normally open signal. If it is not a programming option, you are probably better off using the (+) trigger and living with the slight delay of the door trigger zone.

Thanks Much Guys!

You are correct, i was trying to do things in a rush and thats always one big bad thing to do!!

Ok i went by your suggestion on the black / yellow wire for door trigger, except it only detects the driver door being opened......

What's your suggestion on the rest of the door triggers?

yes, try the BLACK / YELLOW at the VSM / passanger kick panel. It should be an all door trigger.

Guys-Another quick question.....the truck has keypad on the door...again: (2003 ford expedition xlt) where is the default code written or located at?

I've read a bit at some places...wondered if any of you would have an idea?

found it guys!  the keypad code is written right on the vsm module!

Now the black n yellow wire right on the vsm module as suggested for door triggers still triggers front driver door...rest are not detected....

You can try the BLACK/ lt. blue in the driver's kick panel. This is a (+) door trigger and MAY be the dome supervision wire. If it is the dome supervision wire then there may be a slight delay on the door trigger zone arming of the alarm. Basically it will not arm that zone until the domelight goes out. This is usually only a matter of seconds so it should never cause any issues.

quick solution is use the domelight, change the setting of the unit to ignore domelights for 5 seconds or 30 seconds. will prevent the "door open" on the remote when arming.
