I have a Audiovox APS-25C and below is the wiring diagram and also the one for my car from this site.
I just want to make sure I'm clear on this before I attempt it as I do not want to replace the ECM again. (too pricey)

Yes. The starter wire you need to cut is the BLACK / YELLOW. And Pin 85 of the relay goes to the ignition of the vehicle. You can tie it into the main ignition input to the alarm.
Do you plan on connecting the door locks from the unit to the vehicle or will you be manually locking/unlocking the car and only using the aftermarket fob to arm/disarm?
The range on this unit will be very limited due to the lack of an external antenna. It is a "low budget" alarm and may or may not be a reliable system. Make sure to strip, poke, solder, and tape all connections with a high quality 3m electrical tape (Super 33 or better).

The door lock question is a funny one, so far I have only been successfull in getting the drivers side actuator lined up, mounted and working, passenger side just wouldn't work no matter how many time I re-did it,
So to answer the question, yes I will be hooking up the door lock function, and my plan was to connect one of the alarm outpu wires red or green to one of 2 wires on the door lock switch to achieve the ground that is needed for each way
and yes it is low budget, but it is also an upgrade from what I have now, which works perfectly, but has no door lock output and only 1 remote that works 1/2 of the time.

Does the vehicle not have power door locks or are they just not working? And are you adding aftermarket actuators or trying to fix the factory? If you are adding aftermarket, you will need 2 relays for each actuator (or a DEI 451m)
