I just finished installing a viper 5701 in my 2000 civic. When I tried to test remote start, it doesn't crank.

The problem is not my wiring. I've done many of these. The problem is the module. I just got it online and it was refurbished.

I double and triple checked my connections.

Her's whats going on:

- When I turn the key, the starter wire at the ignition gets 12v. But the starter output wire on the alarm isn't getting any power. Same thing happens with remote start. Is the relay inside defective or something. Or did I mess something up in the settings?

I'm gonna connect the starter wires separately without the alarm to make sure it's not my car. But I'm positive it's the alarm.

Can anyone give any suggestions?

it is a refurbished unit from online, its probably a bad brain. what you can do is use the negative starter output and connect it to a relay.

You aren't getting 12v on the violet wire when turning the key in the ignition? If that's the case, then it IS a bad connection at the ignition switch.

What exactly happens when you try to remote start it?
