My 1993 Roadmaster wagon is piece by piece getting it's security/start system installed.

Right now it has a viper 550ESP RS/Alarm but I have just discovered that a Sidewinder 6500esp2 can exactly swap into its place and give me the option of smart start capability using a dsm200, dsm250, vsm200 or vsm 250. i have the Sidewinder so i will swap it in soon.

But the huge plus is that i can still use my old remotes that the 450R units in my car and the 519H2 in my garage. i also have a 450T mixed in and other dei components are 2 508D radars and a couple 795W units to give me 6 channels of alarm-pager coverage if i take the pager with me when i leave the car.

i like to think a little outside the normal constraints of owner/install manuals just for the fun of it.

My car also has an anti carjack device that cannot be "undone" with the alarm remote. it cuts fuel and applies the brake plus a few other "naughty" additions. i am disclosing none of its application in this post.

the picture i am going to try to upload breaks the rules of the forum so if it dont load, please be patient as i may have to scramble to chop and/or resize it. it shows how the 4 buttons on my remote can pull off  so many cool things with a simple DEI474 remote in my hand.

So if you do mostly plain vanilla installs and are looking for a few different types of ideas, maybe you will find something to borrow.

ooops ... my garage unit is a 519H not a 519H2

BTW... disarming only ulocks the drivers door.

the four button remote are programmed in the "single button " mode.

here is a pic that explains the red notations.

if anyone has questions about any of this, please ask them on the post with a reply and not through private messaging.

its all about having fun and making it work right.

it just seems that DEI has such a narrow focus these days, they dont make as much fun stuff and expandability like in the past.

i think it  has alot to do with all the bypassing factory security systems and factory mishaps (GM passkeyII) they probably dont have the manpower to do as much fun stuff.

for instance... smart start is cool but if they would have done it like the 820M was done, you could start your car, unlock, whatever from any phone, not just a smart phone.

there is no good reason that the smartstart system could not be able to be used both ways.... the reason is probably contracts with iphone and android people.... with little regaurd for reguler people.

Oh I do like and by the way your last post, so spot on, I was just going over early versions of Clifford Wizz, what you could do with original Cliff product that you can't do with current DEI/Clifford such as RPM control locking.

that's the beauty of a compustar system posted_image it has rpm locking, and customization settings to the extreme (with a programmer of course). if you didnt have any system in your car, i would have sent one to you posted_image

How did I not expect that young man, just testing you because I was aware that Comp had the facility. Is there a new model out and can you email me with details Ted, I can't seem to find anything on their site unless they've simply blocked European access.

Done, loaded etc. Many thanks, but why do I have a feeling that Compustar rather than DEI is the spiritual child of the original US made Clifford.
