viper 5902, 2002 toyota tacoma

Hi,

New to the fourm and trying to look for some answer to my problems. Here it is:

I have a 2002 toyota tacoma, limited, 4x4, v6, automactic

Just had the viper 5902 alarm installed. The issue im having is when I try to activate the remote start the vehicle will start but then die out after a few seconds. I'am able to keep the vehicle running if i quickly insert the key into the ignition and trun it to the run posistion after activating the remote start. The shop I had it installed is telling me i need a immobilizer bypass for the truck, the shop cant find the bypass module he needs.  I spoke with a toyota technician and he said my truck does not have a immobilizer installed. Has anyone come across this or knows what might be worng with the remote start feature or could it be just wired up wrong. Also does anyone have the wiring diagram for the alram and the truck so i can double check the wiring.

verifying the wiring shouldn't be difficult use the key and meter the wires actions (ing,acc, ect ) then use the remote start and verify the remote start is powering all the wires the same way you're key did. If its not there's you're problem. The install guide should be under the download section at the top on this site.

As far as the anti theft I don't believe your truck has any (no chipped key)

No immobilizer, they just missed an ignition wire, which is why it won't stay running.

Hi,

Thanks for the feed back, I justed checked out everything found the tach was not hooked up. I jump the tach wire to the igniter and remote start the truck it works fine. Now the problem im having is, is there a closer place to tap in to the tach wire besides at the igniter which is below the air box. If I did that I would have to run a seperate wire all the way into the truck. Let me know thanks

also when i remote start the truck some time the abs light flashes and wont stop flashing???? would this mean it was wired up wrong, I mean the abs light still flashes even after i put the key in and start driving!!

Usually abs light coming on something isn't powered correctly ( ing as acc or acc as ing) when you checked the wiring did you compare it to using the key ? Did every thing power up the same ?

Verify that all of the following wires have a connection.
12volts white (40A), WHITE/ red (30A) + ignition harness
Starter black + ignition harness
Ignition BLACK/ red + ignition harness
Second Ignition BLACK / YELLOW + ignition harness
Accessory blue/red + ignition harness

Also verify that the 2nd ignition (BLACK / YELLOW) has power from the time you activate the remote start all the way through cranking. If they did hook it up its possibly they connected it as a 2nd accessory and it will drop power during crank.

Isn't there a tach wire at pin 9 of the OBD (data socket) under dash.
That's your 15 second run time.
Also something not connected that should have been, that's your warning light.
No by-pass needed it wouldn't have started at all if one was needed.
Should your install shop still be trading with the potentially seriously expensive errors you allege them to have made?

Thanks fo rthe replys, I did check the obd socket for a tach but belive there is none. Other then that I will double check wires again and see what comes up, Also I dont want to take it back the the shop that installed it becasue it has been over a month now the guy has been trying to find a bypass module for my truck which it does not need and also looking at his wiring hook up hes a hack. So I should have saved some money and just installed it myself. will let you guys know the outcome

You're correct, only at OBD on 4 cyl. Go to rear of inst. cluster, light GREEN/ black.
