I just bought a 4Runner, it has a VSE Raptor Alarm system semi in it (the system is disconnected, I want the keyless entry, and rather than buy and install another system I am wondering if its worth it to just get this one working, I replaced the battery in the remote and hooked up the system but there is no response, I look on the internals of the remote transmitter and the remote and there is only one thing that looks like can be adjusted or set, and that's a small plastic screw with a hex head.

This company is long dead, over ten years, is there anyone who would know the process of programming or any general tips for programming other remotes that may work with this system?

first off ....dont turn anything inside the remote or the brain.

thing is, if you get it working and then the remote totally dies, then you are right back to square oen yet again.

since all the wires are already ran to the brain you have, it would not be very hard or expensive to replace the brain with a newer one that is probably more reliable(why did raptor go out of business? maybe they were unreliable?) unit.

BTW.. i thought raptor units went full alarm with a power restore. if thats the case, you may have a dead brain since yours didnt do anything on restore.

the company is VSE, the model is Raptor, and the system responds with beeps according to the switch and the red LED comes on.

and would the hook ups be the same type of plug?

im familiar with the brand a little. i installed a couple in a different millinium.

and the ones i did would wail the siren and flash the parking lights anytime the power was restored to the module. your didnt and that makes me wonder if its dead.

where did you get the remote? did it come with the vehicle or did you score it elswhere?

i dont remember the the programming sequence.

it came with the car, and I dont think I hooked up the brain? its the remote transmitter, and I really dont want the siren or alarm portion, I just want keyless entry that uses the cars horn and parking lights, is there a decent cheap system that might wire up the same as these, probably going to have to cut wires and redo the plug though.
