I have a 01 ford F150 4 dr. I just got the truck. it has a viper system the 550esp (that is what the box says) in it but in order to crank the truck you have to turn the dome lights on using the dimer switch to the left of steering wheel and the remote will not work ether I don't know if this is the viper system causing the problem or if maybe a ground came loose

does opening the door to turn the dome light on also let it start?
this is very weird.
did the remote you have work in the past? ------------- yuk

the domelight has to be on just for only remote start cranking.... or any starter cranking, even with the key?

if while the interior light is on, will the remotes begin working until the int ights are off again?
does turing the parking lights on (without the interior lights on) let the starter crank as well? ------------- yuk

that must be a coincidence, or there is a starter kill of some sort to allow start as the domelight is used as the "switch"

i thnk the main fuse is blown feeding the alarm module and the module is somehow getting repowered back throught the parking light/dash light wire.

i know it sounds strange and is logically pretty much impossible...but there is a small chance.
im banking on the posibility that your install has some step that was taken to make it slightly different than normal.
i know that if some of my systems were dismantled by a saavy installer, they may scratch their head at moments untill they realized the final goals. ------------- yuk

the remote will not work with the lights on and the parking light on doesn't let start

checked the fuses all the fuses and have found no blown ones. the truck turns over to start but won't with the dome light switch. i was thinking maybe a ground has been removed some where or something along that line. do you think that this is possible

if the truck will not start period. there is nothing associated with a typical 550esp install that should cause that.
im geting ready to head outof tow for a day or so. my answers will be limited to non exsistant for that time.
hopefully someone will chime in and offer a better solution than i have. ------------- yuk
