Hello all, i am a newbie, so be gentle.....
I have a 2004 Suburban and installing at Viper 5704 (remote start). I am little confused by the wording in the quick start guide vs direct wire. The alarm has 9 wires, but direct wire only mentions 7 wires.... I am asking if anyone can tell me what wire from the alarm to connect to the vehicle. Please......
Quick Start Guide says:
Pink - (+) Ignition 1 Input/Output
RED / White - (+) Fused (30A) Ignition 2/Flex Relay input 87
Orange - Acc Output
Violet - Starter Output (car side of the starter kill)
Green - Starter input (key side of the starter kill)
Red - Ignition 1 Input
pink/white - ignition 2 output
pink/black - flex relay input 87a key side (if required) of flex relay
RED / black - accessory/starter input
The DirectWire printout for this vehicle states:
Red - 12volts
RED / white - 2nd 12volts
yellow - starter
pink - ignition
white - second ignition
orange - accessory
brown- 2nd accessory
What I have come up with so far on paper connecting alarm to vehicle
Pink to pink
RED / white to white
orange to orange
violet to yellow
Also I live in Lancaster, CA, if anyone wants to visit me......

i think the the viper red and RED / white go to the burb red
org to org
pnk to pnk
pnk/white to white
violet to yellow
i dont know if you will need to power the brown wire or not.
some of the other wires on the viper are for controlling you passkey bypass module.
surley someone will be chiming in to correct me or confirm my answer or add to it. ------------- yuk

Viper Red, RED / White & RED / Black (H3/2, H3/6, H3/9 ) all go to +12V constant.

Ok. Got the wires hooked up. Push remote start and remote says remote start disabled. I tried to push the controller after turning on ignition and off again per manual, and led never lights up or alarm never sounds 1x, 2x, or 3x.... Ugh what a pain.... Help please again.

OK. Some things to check.
You didn't mention a bypass module. You will need a bypass module to remote start the vehicle. Your 2004 Suburban should have the Passlock2 immobilizer system. The are many bypass modules available for this vehicle. Here is a link to the modules from DEI : https://www.xpresskit.com/VehicleCompatibility.aspx?p=null&year=2004&make=Chevrolet&model=Suburban&ps=3&s=0&c=0
There are more wires on the Viper that need to be connected than just the H3 wires. Perhaps you could list all your connections.
On the Viper:
The Neutral Safety wire must be connected to a chassis ground ( assuming auto trans ) for a remote start. The Neutral Safety Switch must be plugged in and set to ON, also.
The Viper comes set for Manual Transmission. You must program it for AutoTrans ( still assuming auto trans ). See Menu 3, Item 1, Opt 2.
The Viper has "Shutdown Diagnostics". Try getting a specific error code from that. ------------- Soldering is fun!

Ok, I must admit, I was really hoping the remote start would work now, you know kinda testing as I go.... but.... I still have the 24 wires from the H2 connector. I have H1, H3, the door lock connector, and shock sensor installed. I did purchase the DEI GMDLBP module, and so far wired the 12+, Ground, and signal wire to Pin 2 on the OBDII connector. The alarm sounds, the doors lock, lights flash, blue led blinks....But I cannot get into the programming mode as of yet, probably due to the 24 Pin not being connected yet.... I did have a question on the GMDLBP module.... Do the following wires go from the module to the 5704 or the vehicle 2004 Surburban
Module 5704 Suburban
Brown - Negative Ground Output when running ????? ??????????
Pink/White - Door Trigger Output ????? LF Door gray/black, RF Door BLACK/ white, LR Door lt blue/black, RR Door lt GREEN/ black
Pink - Dome Light Input from vehicle ????? Dome Supervision grey/black BCM, black plug, Pin E
Heck, it might be cheaper to fly you to Cali to help me out !!!!.... I really want to do this install myself, and I am so greatful, you are helping me..... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...

most people dont realize how many connections need to be made(especially on newer cars) to make all those bells and whistles work.
when you pay an installer, you are mostly paying for expertise, not really the time since most good installers can install most systems in a couple or so hours....and it takes a novice a few hours each of several days etc. etc..
when you are finally done you will have wires that werent needed to complete your installation.
every car company has their little things that they do differently so alarm/remote start companies work very hard to cover all the bases.
doing things yourself gives a person great pride..... until they set of an air bag that knocks tem into the B pillar giving them a concussion and extended hospital stay.

I don't have the install guide handy and can't download it right now what is in the 24 pin harness ? Assuming its an auto did you connect the neutral safety wire to ground ? Is you're hood pin grounded ? Is the brake wire seeing 12v all the time ?

Henry why do you have question marks under the 5704 wiring?
Surely you have the install instructions? If not why even start.
And testing as you go NO, NO, NO!!!!
Test first.

Just wanted to let everyone know there was no train wreck, all is working perfectly. Thank you for the few folks that offered help. As for those comments RTFM, really???? You obviously have never installed a Viper alarm, because the FM, does not provide much info, nor does Viper if you call them. I thought this website was suppose to help the DIYer, and not lambasse them.... Oh well.... Thank GOD, there was some great people on this site that offered a tremendous amount of help, to them I eternally grateful, to the folks that posted a negative comment, please remember the nature of this website......

GO TO YOUR ROOM!!...........................AGAIN!
Henry, I'm glad you got it goin'. There is no feeling in the world like doing stuff for yourself sucessfully.
Got your eyes on any more security/start projects now that you have the burb under your belt? It kinda becomes an addiction. ------------- yuk

Too true, I stand reamed out..should I still be standing?
This recovery mode has shortened my already short temper it's just that I could see a whole page of people not listening to those who know.
