keyless push button start idea

I have been thinking about how to make a push button start idea for awhile lately and I haven't been able to find anything custom without using the key. I was also thinking to have it with you can just press the button once and it will crank and start like a newer car instead of holding it down till it starts. Only thing that I know that works that was is a remote start alarm. I noticed in my manual for my alarm that I am gonna install has that option (Smartstart VSS5000) and I wanna guess the Clifford I have in there now will do that too to where it has a negative input to activate remote start. I was thinking about a setup like this, you would normally unlock the truck with your alarm remote, get inside and press a button to activate the remote start. Then you would have the accessory and ignition harness controlled with a reed magnetic switch thru a relay. You could have both switches close to each other and you would place your keys with a magnet over the reed switches to simulate the process of turning the key forward and you would press the brake like normal to turn off the remote start. To turn the car off, you could simply remove the keys from the switch. Also if you just wanted the radio or windows on, you could maybe locate a switch for those item in a different location. This is just an idea I thought of this evening from some research today. Well if anyone wants to comment this or give me some ideas, please let me know...

You can achieve what you want using relays and a PAC TR-7. But more specifics would involve knowing what make model and year vehicle///

I was thinking of making it work for my 2001 Dodge Ram, I dont think the steering wheel locks anymore but it could easily be used on older vehicles. Also using my remote start to start it, it will automatically wait for the wait to start light since its diesel

Using a reed switch and a magnet to keep relays energized is a bad idea - if you hit a bump or if the keys shift the ignition will shut off.

Also, typically when you push the (-) start input there is quite a delay before the car actually starts. If it were me, I would be too impatient to sit and wait the extra 5-7 seconds for the car to start - I would just remote start it as I approached.

well the reed switch isn't the best idea at the moment, Well I already wait a coupe second for my wait to start light when I use my remote start but I don't when I use my key, I havent see how long it takes when I ground that wire but I may when I get around to installing my new alarm

I know a guy who has a 67 Mustang and how he starts it is that he puts the brake pedal in a certain position then a start light lights up and it starts. Then to turn it off, he presses another button. I wanna see how his friend wired that up

I was thinking it would be good to have like the trunk output from the alarm to activate that module for the ignition to turn on and then maybe have a button to start it

WHY? You are just giving yourself extra grief with more things to go wrong!
Just stick with a tried and tested R/S from one of the more reputable manufacturers.
A steering wheel lock not working? Methinks the ignition switch next.
P.S. As Mr. Pierson will probably agree, the ignition system on a 67 Mustang as like chalk and cheese to a modern vehicle.
