A bit has changed with the Vipers compared to the old Matrix RS3's that I last installed. My old name on here I cant remember the password so i had to make a new name.
Im having some issues with getting the remote start to work with my 04 ram 3500 diesel. It will crank but not start, Im sure it has to do with the flex relay and hooking up enough accys/Ign. Im installing the Viper 5704 and the Flex relay is a little different to me. Im sure its no different than adding the additional relays ive done in the past to control the extra accy and ign of some vehicles, but im stuck. Any tips/help you can give please let me know. Also occasionally the factory alarm goes off with the remote start im not sure why, since the plain metal key will start the truck and let it run without issues. Do i need a bypass module even though the truck works fine with that? I have as a diagram the following In Car What I Hooked to remote start 12V Red and Red both 40A Red and RED / Black Starter Yellow Car Side Green, Key Side Purple Ignition Pink/White Pink/White Ing 2 pink/lt. green Pink Accy dk. blue and pink / YELLOW 16 awg Orange (seems odd that accy1 is so small gauged) Accy 2 pink / YELLOW 14 awg accy 3 pink / YELLOW 10 awg Remote start harness is as follows. H3/1 Pink (+) Inginition 1 INPUT/OUTPUT H3/2 RED / White Fused 30amp Ingnition 2 / Flex Relay input 87 (not used?) H3/3 Orange (+) Accessory Output H3/4 Violet (+) Starter Output (Car side of starter Kill) H3/5 Green (+) Starter Input (Key side of starter kill) H3/6 Red (+) Fused 30amp Ignition 1 Input (12V battery) H3/7 Pink/White (+) Ingnition 2/ Flex Relay Output H3/8 Pink/Black (+) Flex Relay Input 87A key side (not used?) H3/9 RED / Black (+) Fused 30amp Accesory/Starter Input H3/10 NO CONNECTION Do i need to use the h2/1 Pink/white (-)200mA Ignition/Flex Relay Control Output wire with the flex relay etc. Is the flex relay built in or should i be using another relay with these being some inputs for it? The more i think about it I think the RED / white and pink/white need to be off another relay getting 12v and using the h2/1 as a trigger. Sorry if formatting didnt work when i preview it, i cant get any indention i used to help keep things in columns. Replies: Posted By: kreg357 Date Posted: April 21, 2012 at 4:52 AM The reason the truck is not starting and running is because H3/2 is not connected to +12V constant. H3/1 Pink (+) Ignition 1 INPUT/OUTPUT Pink/White IGN1 H3/7 comes factory defaulted to IGN2. Change programming in Menu 3, Item 8 to Option 2 ( for ACC2 ). Relay1 for IGN2 circuit Relay Pin 85 to Viper Pink (-)200ma Ignition Output Relay 2 for ACC3 circuit Relay Pin 85 to Viper Orange (-)200ma Accessory Output Relay Pin 87A is not used on both relays and should be insulated. ------------- Soldering is fun! Posted By: kobryan Date Posted: April 22, 2012 at 5:40 PM Ive got everything hooked up the way you suggested. I'm still getting the cranking without starting. Do i need to hook up the h2/1 to anything?
I saw you wanted both Dk. Blue & Pink / YELLOW (16ga) hooked up for acc 1. I used a relay the same way as the other acc relay so i didn't just hook them all together. Instead of having it triggered by the orange viper output should i have it triggered off the Dk. Blue acc wire? I have changed the flex relay to be acc 2. As well as the external relay for acc 3 and ign 2. I can use the remote start button when the truck is on and it will stay started without a key in the ignition. Of course to get it to work i have to follow the manual start procedures. Is there a way to factory restore the alarm back to default? It seems like when i was setting the flex relay it was not setup for ign from default like it should of been? I can get a hold of a bitwriter to go through everything setting by setting but it will be a few days. Resetting and configuring the way i want/need seems easier. Posted By: kreg357 Date Posted: April 22, 2012 at 6:20 PM The Viper H2/1 PINK/WHITE (-) 200mA IGNITION/FLEX RELAY CONTROL OUTPUT is not used. Are the Accessory 1 wires, dk. blue and pink / YELLOW, sharing the same ignition harness connector pin? That's Are you running in Tach Mode and have you done a successful Tach Learn? Here is some tach info from DEI: Have you set a Wait to Start Delay and programmed the Viper for Accessory State During Wait To Start to ON? Is the truck an auto or manual trans vehicle? If it's an auto, then program the Viper to Auto Trans ( Menu 3, Item 1, Opt 2 ). Not sure with the Viper programming. Here are the reset instructions from the Viper 5904 from Page 23 :
------------- Soldering is fun! Posted By: kobryan Date Posted: April 22, 2012 at 7:17 PM I dont think they are on the same circuit, while the truck was running off the alarm (started remote start while it was running and turned it off removed key) I tested all wires to see if they were all powered up and working correctly (in case a relay was bad) I also checked the other wires to see what wires had power etc.
It is a manual Transmission. I've also learned the tach, and I'm not using the wait to start 528-T yet. Im going to see how this works without it first just using the 15 seconds i setup. My truck doesnt use glow plugs so the only reason it needs to wait is for the grid heaters when its below 60*F. So far the features i set different from default are option # 2 Tachometer 6 on-1 min 8 Acc 2 9 timed 15 sec. I guess I will try and reset the alarm and try to setup everything again because it sounds like all the wires are attached where they need to be. |
